Hello Mr. Radio 45
Do you think there's some kind of grudge against her by the radio? Or do they think that the GP doesn't like her and won't listen if they play her?
Marco 731
Can we talk about this, though? Why is she slowing down already? I'm not melting down, I'm not being negative. I'm legitimately curious. What are stations seeing in her high AI/spins ratio that could possibly make them think, "Nah...better not spin this one more. People are listening to it, and we get ad revenue from that, so let's stop." It really pisses me off they do this all the time to Gaga
Spanish Eyes 2,041
Do you think there's some kind of grudge against her by the radio? Or do they think that the GP doesn't like her and won't listen if they play her? The first possibility seems pretty childish, and the second possibility you presented doesn't add up. When Applause comes on, people are not changing the station.
pie-kun 1,765
Blurred Lines passed Applause but Applause passed Wrecking Ball, so it's still #4. Wake Me Up may pass Applause at some point, but if Eminem keeps freefalling then Gaga will remain at #4 still. It looks like a lot of the songs in the bottom of the top 10 that were looking like threats (Sweet Lorraine, Royals) are slowing down a bit, so she's hopefully safe in the top 5 for awhile. Bt1 5,213
Thinking again. Katy is 11 on Pop, Gaga is 18. Katy has less then double difference, even if she sells more double than Gaga. So I think we should wait. Its good as long as it rises. Blurred Lines passed Applause but Applause passed Wrecking Ball, so it's still #4. Its time to see the Kia commercial effect.

And it's major stations in NYC/LA that are doing this.

But it doesnt seem to lost AI, so that means that they are reducing its spins, but they are putting the song on good hours ( not at night, when nobody listen). Americano 31,061
Lot of stations only play proven hits and may not playlist any songs the first month they come out. That's why even Blurred Lines was still getting adds 6 or 8 weeks after it made #1. They aren't in the business of being "early adopters" - people who want new music have the internet now. That still doesn't explain why stations that have already added like Z100/KIIS FM are beginning to cut its airplay already But it doesnt seem to lost AI, so that means that they are reducing its spins, but they are putting the song on good hours ( not at night, when nobody listen). If those stations kept the spins where they were, she would be getting 1M+ updates. So she is losing AI from major cities, but it's still showing up positive because of newer stations keeping her over 0 (for now)
Americano 31,061
I did notice Gaga is slowing on airplay charts across the board though. From France to Australia. Maybe the song just isn't connecting (yet)
Bt1 5,213
I dont care. As long as she gains audience its ok for me.
Americano 31,061
Well the point is that she won't be for long if they don't start boosting its spins? lol I went onto the radio industry website (I have an account) and there are no Applause advertisements anywhere, but there are ads for Roar/Royals/Robin's new song, etc. I dont get why they would take them down already
VforVendetta 2,024
We should visit radio stations and request Applause in person. I'm ready tbh!
Hello Mr. Radio 45
Question: How far in advance is the daily schedule of song for the radio selected? Are the songs all selected in real time, or are they set ahead of time with room for requests to be inserted?

Klou 2,414
Wrecking Ball sold 90K on Sunday. If it were released on Monday the song would have had a much better debut than We Can't Stop.
