That's why I've been thinking of a possibility regarding a non-US international single similar to Eh Eh, given the dilemma on whether to focus more in allotting more time for Applause or building momentum for the album itself via a second single release. But I doubt she or UMG would even consider that idea. They want to maximize whatever first week sales the pre-album singles will have, but maximizing it might turn out just a short-term solution (drum up sales worldwide), rather than a long-term one (ensuring longevity).

Nah, European radio usually follows what US+UK radio plays so a non-US single would be bad. I can see MANiCURE or Gypsy becoming a hit though.

Judas, Y&I...

Both didn't do well, Judas didn't do well thanks to TeoG release+flop in the US and Yoü and I is a genre that is local to the US.

Judas did pretty well in Europe though. :P Y&I was a hit in the US, but flopped WW. My point was that "usually follows" are the key words --- basically agreeing with you

That Katy ballad (probably the 2nd single) might be the one titled Unconditionally. And based on its descriptions from those who've heard it, she'd most likely get her 9th HOT 100 #1 with it. And then there's a song titled Birthday which Billboard called as a serious contender to the #1 spot of the HOT 100. If she keeps going with all of these, she could get at least two more #1s from this era alone. I expect a slowdown by the time her 4th single drops. If that would not happen, she might just repeat history once again.

PRISM era might turn out the way I wanted the BTW era to do, singles-succes-wise

Taylor's 22 just reached 100 M views on VEVO. :giggle:

Well, Judas is a known song but it didn't do very well for a Gaga/RedOne collab :noparty:

I can't wait till the time comes when Katy loses her star power. But it won't happen with Prism, it seems. Gaga can never catch a break first Adele, now Katy and Miley :emo:

There was a time when she/we didn't have to pay attention to others' succes cause she was smashing. I hate this "she's not smashing because there's someone else doing it" discussions :crossed:

Well who knows. I know were going off of whats happened so far with Applause-Roar but Gaga and katy could surprise us. Gaga could surprise us with a something massive  Everyone who heard the BTW tracks were certain this was the 21st century's Thriller Lol. Maybe Unconditionally might blow up in their faces tbh.
