That's what they did with The Fame Monster (though the single/album gap was smaller). After the EP release, the album version of Telephone climbed to #30 in 2 weeks on the Hot 100 so they released it straight away in the new year. Rihanna did the same with Unapologetic. Diamonds didn't hit #1 until the week of the album release I'm pretty sure (so it took 2+ months) and then Stay was released in the new year after tonnes of interest. At the moment I think she should just do little things that will keep the public interested with the era other than Applause - like hyping the album cover release, the tracklist reveal and a second single pre-order or something. However if I'm that far out, then so is Billboard who wrote "Roar" is in line to sell 340,000-360,000; compare my estimate of 343K for Roar. 190K for applause is 55% of Roar's figure; presently on itunes Applause is selling 60% of Roar.
