How odd that the post-VMA chart position of a Gaga single is at #6 (again). The same thing happened to You & I last 2011 and Paparazzi back in 2009. But at least Applause's peak (so far) was #4.

It is 5 not 6 ;)

They made a mistake with Alejandro and changed it from #7 to #5. Why couldn't the mistake this time raise it to #3... Not the other direction

In this era, for Gaga there is only one direction.

Ariana's album is forecast to only debut with 110-115K. That's a lot lower than I would have guessed...

her team's fault tbh. The Way was snatching weaves like 5 months ago. they waited way too long

It was little hard to beat both BL and Roar

I'm saying if the song and video were released on the same day like they were suppose to be

I know, i still doubt it :/ BL was HUUGE back then and Roar was very close to it, but you never know :D

Do you think Gaga would hit #3 if video and VMAs were in same week?

I'm certain she'd have #3 US and UK both if she'd released the single as planned Aug 19.

Probably #2 if it wasn't a rush release.

To be honest: After now knowing that she wouldn't have had any chance for #1, I prefer the way things happened now.

The media would've called it "lost against Katy" anyway, but for us the meltdown would've been much worse if she had a #3 after one full week of sales and perfect planned promotion.

Now at least we can all say that due to the rush release, the performance is really fine.

Oh dear, actually I try to care less about charts. But I'm not only a music lover, I'm a little monster, a fan of a pop star. It's different, of course in some way it's important to me. Plus, I adore to a--lyze and compare statisticts and charts. But at least she gains enough money to finance great videos and tours. As long as she can effort that, I don't need tons of single #1s.

Okay I saw now. Applause 6 Post VMA. :flop:

Just checked the Billboard comments section. And it is like 2011 all over again there. The KatyCats are completely enjoying this moment right now.

Roar is performing is if it were some amazing, next level ****... But it's not. I'm so confused as to why it's selling/being streamed so much.

I think Applause peak will be at least #3, cause next week she is gaining a lot promo in US

I dont see Applause going no 3. It wont probably go no 4 with all the competition.

She will beat Berzek and at least one of Royals/Wake Me Up

Not sure if this was posted but ARTPOP sold +45k from preorders

Current iTunes US Chart positions
1. Roar - Katy Perry (can it freefall already)

2. Royals - Lorde (who is buying this?)

3. Wake Me Up - Avicii (ok)
4. Berzerk - Eminem (shouldn't be problem in few hours)

5. Applause - Lady Gaga (rise, rise)

I see it possibly increasing to #5, staying there for a week and then slowly receding -2 each week until it's out of the Top 15. It'll probably then stay outside for quite a while.

As for the future of the era, with right marketing I'd like to see no single peak lower than #8.
