SomethingMore 1,701
Applause is a HIT song, deal with it !
AURA 2,890
I personally think Applause was definitely lead single worthy and I can understand why it was chosen by the label. The only benefit I can see from the song under-performing is the label allowing Gaga more control over single choices. At this point, I think it'd be best to aim for around 10-11 weeks in the Top 10 and around 2M-3M in digital sales and Top 10 on Pop. I thought they learnt this with the BTW era, but it doesn't look like they did
monsterhooker 3
lets hope. I dont see it. To sell 3 m it has to sell like this week for 12 more weeks ( 3 months). starships peaked at 5 yet it had crazy longevity and was in the top 10 for 21 weeks. and was 9 on the bb year end chart. im not saying applause will have that much success, but dont count it out yet. i have faith in it. There are always chart succes stories. Applause can make one of them, but I dont want a Starships one. I can't find I Kissed A Girl offensive Because you are not a lesbian. pie-kun 1,765
Yes, it was very controversial and I think that lgbt people who criticise it have a point. Its more on beeing a lesbian than a fantasy for straight guys. Right, she pretty much goes out of her way to say it isn't a love song and that she has a boyfriend, she's just messing around with a girl. That's basically heteros-xual men's ideal view of a lesbian, not actual lesbians. Probably didn't help that she had a song called "Ur So Gay" on that same album. nick4bty 2,758
God, I miss One of the Boys Katy. I was hoping she'd go back to that, but nope. It's looking like the same bubble bum TD **** we've been getting since 2010.
Bt1 5,213
What's so offensive about it tho I kissed a girl, Katy Perry version, creates exposure for lesbians, by reducing them to fantasies of straight guys. I understand them for beeing upsets. Here is another I kissed a girl song not doing that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FdwUGwasck Yesterday Applause only had something like 1,2 m youtube views. Probably people watched her Itunes performances.
pie-kun 1,765
Six green updates in a row is kinda strange considering she was getting mostly flat/negative updates all weekend, I wonder what's prompting people to buy.
Mariano 958
Sex dreams is too risky. You dont know when radio starts to make a big deal out of nothing. And until now it doesnt top Breathe on me from Britney. That didnt stop the people calling it generic. well Applause isn't risky and look how radio is responding to it I'd prefer Sex Dreams to flop on radio because It's s-xual than Applause because _________ ? Bt1 5,213
well Applause isn't risky and look how radio is responding to it I'd prefer Sex Dreams to flop on radio because It's s-xual than Applause because _________ ? At the end of the day, Im happy with whatever she chooses. Too bad that her label seems to decide. But at the moment, after where Applause is on the charts, I want really a huge hit. So I want her ( label) to choose the best song on the album that doesnt have in your face controversial things that could backfire.
