That's Katy music. She always plays safe, people are used to hear stuff like Roar from her.

Gaga is more rewarded when she releases something different

Yet Katy started her career with the controversial and fresh sounding I Kissed a Girl.

And radiopublic didn't reward Gaga's risks on Born This Way.

true, i mean, she got what she wanted, VMA = exposure, so it can kind of just dwindle down now. because i mean, there's obvi gonna have to be a 2nd single out when the album comes out because applause will not keep the momentum pump until november.

i still think she should do ONE more performance in the us like AGT or something to give applause one final push in sales, then let it be on its own. some people are still unaware of the song or dont even know its her due to poor airplay. she needs one more us performance to promote the song.

I personally think Applause was definitely lead single worthy and I can understand why it was chosen by the label. The only benefit I can see from the song under-performing is the label allowing Gaga more control over single choices.

At this point, I think it'd be best to aim for around 10-11 weeks in the Top 10 and around 2M-3M in digital sales and Top 10 on Pop.

Light red, we were doing so well  :noparty: It'll pick up again. Can they discount "Royals" so Lorde can cockblock Kety?

Glitch update, notice the "???" at the top.

I measure things different.

under 1m ( in 2013) - no possible - flop

1 - 1,5 m - undeperforming

1,5 - 2,5 - moderate hit

I will stop here giving the fact that I dont see the song selling more than 2,5 m.

so you think it will perform like alejandro, lovegame, or worse you & i? i highly doubt it. i see 2.5 to 3 million.

TEOG, BTW and Y&I were different from what she released in TF and TFM. Those singles did good in the US and two were WW hits. MTN wasn't that risky and Judas... well the religious thing really ****ed up the single possibilities to be a hit.

I Kissed a Girl, yeah controversial. But it wasn't that extreme, most people didn't even care

and it was about bis-xuality which to most ppl is "cool" or "hot", totally different from religion. god forbid you **** with religion.

Another green update for Gaga. Might possibly be a glitch since the "???" are there, but since it's showing Dark Green/Dark Red updates, I'm guessing this is the real one.

lets hope. I dont see it. To sell 3 m it has to sell like this week for 12 more weeks ( 3 months).

Actually, I remember IKAG being more controversial in the LGBT community than anywhere else. Sure, it pissed off the Bill O'Reillys of the world, but pop music is not marketed for them anyways.

Check out Gagas Guardian interview. She comments on Applause on the charts.

As I said on that thread, I think she listen too much to her critics / haters. Think if Katy would have done that. Roar wouldnt exist.

Yes, it was very controversial and I think that lgbt people who criticise it have a point. Its more on beeing a lesbian than a fantasy for straight guys.

"I hope my boyfriend don't mind it" she knew how to secure that
