It just proves what i said in the other thread, The song is not relateable to the general public as Roar is, therefore, The "low" sales.

I hope this is a lesson for  her to not put her artisty on the first place against her commercial success. Now honestly I want all her singles to flop so she can sit down on her ass and write some good songs with good lyrics!! Sorry gags.

Do you even read the things you type? Why is bland commercial success so important for you?

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Early release + lack of hype.

I hope with the video release and the VMA performance more people become aware of her "comeback" and buy the song.

Jimmy Iovine was the one who told her to make Applause the lead single. It wasn't even supposed to be on the album, but the accident and all... So really, it was her putting her commercial success before her artistry. However you should know this, considering you opened a thread about it last night... http://gagadaily.com/index.php?showtopic=57155&hl=

so she lets some guy to decide her lead single off a 2 years break?? Letme just..

Dont get me wrong all. I love Gaga but things like this make me really mad because I am used to see her killing the competition!

The meltdowns in here the last few days are just too much for me to handle. I never expected so much stupidity from a fanbase. Some of you gurls need to calm the f*ck down and shut the f*ck up.  :nails:

I mean, if you really want someone w commercial success, there is always katy. you can support brave 2.0 if you think that is the better song.

when have i said i stan just for commercial success? i want to see her succeed but she obviously doesnt care. im still looking forward to the album but dont expect the album or her future singles to sell much.

Some people really need to put things into perspective

- first single music video isn't out
- she hasn't done her big "comeback" performances yet
- the album isn't released for another few months
- she hasn't released future singles yet
- she hasn't started and finished the ARTPOP tour

If her sale numbers are still crappy after all of the above, then you have a reason to be disappointed and miserable

Like I said: I am used to se Gaga killing the competiting, mopping the floor with their blood. THIS IS HER COME BACK DAMN IT!!!

I hope that gaga is not lurking now :( you are all so cruel, she had NO radio deal, NO major promo, and NO possibility to show the song to GP yet.

Stop making such drama, I'm kinda disappointed too but don't bash her! My god...

She HAD a radio deal just like Katy, the hyped the single with all those "leaks" tweets just like Katy with those viral videos, she hasn't perform the single yet, neither Katy Perry and there's articles EVERYWHERE putting Applause against Roar, my god, even Vevo had that Gaga Vs Katy banner a few days ago.

Both singles had the same chances to be No.1, it was up to the GP to choose, and they chose.

I'm sorry but don't bring the "relatable" scenario up again. Who the f*ck can relate to Blurred Lines? How is roar relatable? Has every little teenager gone through a divorce in their life? That's the only age group Katy Perry targets. Give me a break. Most of the songs out there are not relatable to anyone in any way.

Also, I'd like to say, as much as I love Gaga the lack of hype does kinda play into this. She should have released teasers to start some hype. I also do not think that the fact that it's 'not radio-friendly' or 'not relatable' has to do with anything.

And then if she had released an uber commercial pop song you all would be like "Omg I can't believe Gaga has gone so generic!!! She's a sell out now"

Gaga is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't when it comes to her fans. Some people will never be pleased.

Why on earth are her numbers even an issue with you guys? We are fans of her because of her music, not because of how many records she sells. It's obvious which fans would still be here if Poker Face and Bad Romance hadn't been as big as they were.

Just Dance = relatable = everyone dances in a club

Bad Romance = relatable = everyone was in a painful relationship

Born This Way = relatable = everyone feels like an outcast here and there

Applause = NOT relatable = minimal amount of people "live" for the Applause and feel like contemporary artist Jeff Koons is "them"

I think this song is her least commercial single yet, even if it is very catchy. That's why I think it was still a very brave choice.
