Yeah the white dress in the beggining def gave me Bloody Mary btwb teas...it was btw fused with ARTPOP hence the "textile" headpiece which she told us!!!! Or she hinted textiles in an interview

And the more I watch this performance the MORE I LOVE IT!!

Every single time anything GaGa comes out, the fans complains because they didn't get their expectations met.

So annoying.

It should be a given that GaGa does the unexpected so stop having expectations, us fans that do enjoy the things she does have to read you complain about your expectations.

the song, mv, and the vma performance are all underwhelming at first, but all the of them are grower

I do agree though I still believe her Paparazzi performance is still Number 1.

Applause is SERIOUSLY becoming a favorite of mine, the beat :legend: . Imagine what the rest of the record is going to sound like if Applause wasn't the best?!

*disclaimer - I will probably not like whatever track she did with Too Short. Ugh. So I'm sure THAT track will be my least played/most hated Gaga song ever. Hoping he's doing like the intro or something we can't notice.

I loved the performance! Best performance of the night tbh

It still doesn't top VMA 2009, but thats too iconic to top anyways.

Guys Perez actually gave a good review about her performance.

"Starting off in an avant-garde milk carton look, Lady GaGa brought her signature weird to the VMA stage Sunday night with a medley of looks demanding Applause.

Once she stripped from her all-white, head-to-toe milk piece, GaGa danced like the black swan in a black, glittering, one-piece suit that was soon layered with an equally shimmering blue blazer and skirt.

And then, just like magic (and the speedy hands of back-up dancers), GaGa donned a wig a la Just Dance and paid homage to the beginning of her mainstream career.

Soon she'd strip again, back down to the sparkling suit to convey the feel for her next look  the classic yellow blonde Telephone wig.

A timeline of her career already?

But the ghosts of GaGa past finally bowed as the fashion of GaGa present arrived in the form of her sea-shelled mermaid look from the Applause video  voluminous hair and all.

Did the self-gifted style tribute work for U?"

I thought it was a great performance. Lately she has been discussing the reverse Warholian experience and how that is the nature of ARTPOP. She mentioned making the artist the canvas instead of putting the artist on canvas (ex. Warhol's Marilyn, Campbell's soup, etc.).

She came out in all white as a blank canvas and started displaying the art on her. The different era's and whatnot. It was a solid effort and that dance looks tiring as hell. Loved the Koons balls and I love that only people who know of Koons get the reference.

Glad that she is back!! More performances and interpretations of Applause to come!

I was a little underwhelmed at first (probably because I expected more)

but after watching it the second time, I really love it, one of her best performances, but Paparazzi 2009 still remain her most iconic moment

HORRORHOLIC

I liked the performance and the references to past era's, but I didn't like the fact she used the backing track, especially to that extent. It always seems so weird when a performers mouth isn't moving or isn't holding the mic to their mouth and the vocals keep going. 99% of the other performers did the same thing but Gaga really doesn't need it and it's kind of a distraction.

Other than that my opinion is that while it wasn't as good as some of her other performances in the past, it was still really good and by far the most entertaining of the night.

They bleeped the word n*gger but not the word f*ggot, they bleeped the word molly but not the word b---h. The FCC is a ****ing joke.

The FCC doesn't enter into it, AFAIK -- they only censor broadcast stations. Cable channels like MTV set their own standards, generally with the goal of pleasing advertisers.

Oh ok, I am confused about what the FCC has control over now that there is no such thing as television accessible to anyone with an antenna. I thought broadcast television was lumped in with cable tv now.

Ugh, I was going to watch p0rn, but I think I'll go educate myself about obscenity laws, thanks Nemo.

VERY happy with tonight! Gaga absolutely killed it and looked absolutely stunning!! I am so proud of her.

The rest of the show was a bit of a let down aside from Justin Timberlake, Macklemore + Ryan Lewis, & Bruno Mars. Those along with Gaga were the best performances, in my opinion. But I'm so proud to be a fan of hers tonight, she is truly amazing, and I am SO excited for the ARTPOP era!!!
