The single was doing very well when it first came out earlier in the week: 2nd in the U.S and 1st in dozens of countries...... then, due to a lack of promotion, yes it has slowed down, but that is to be expected because of not much press. Like Gaga has said, Monday is when it officially impacts radio, when the music video comes out, and the start of when she will be doing more interviews/appearances. Also, not to the mention the VMA performance and iTunes Festival coming in the next week or two. We need to stay calm and see what happens! Interscope have signed on a airplay contract or something that begin on Tuesday, Gaga is not going to fail. You make it looks really bad for no logical reason and it's really suspicious. Jellybean Monster 10 Posted August 18, 2013 Share Posted August 18, 2013 Applause hasn't had any of the advantages ROAR has had, and it's leak right in the heels of ROAR was really, really bad timing. I have no doubt in my mind if it were reversed, Gaga would of been #1 and Katy #2, or they would at least have battled if the playfield was more even. But Katy has had loooooong running promo for ROAR even before it leaked, and the hype train was already there. She's the best performer of our generation. Katy can have her glitter, Robin can dance with naked women, and JT can make us all love him with his charm, but Gaga is what everyone is excited to see, hands down. (But paws up!) In terms of radio, my understanding from friends in the business, is that last Monday radio COULD play the song, but this coming Monday they HAVE to play the song via contracts with Interscope.
