Every single time. I know it seems stupid to complain about chart-watching in the chart-watching thread. But that's not what I'm gonna do. I enjoy tracking the charts, too, and I especially love when acts I love do well. But honestly, the degree to which some people seem to get invested isn't healthy. Also, while 200K is a bad number for Gaga (and I don't think ANYBODY is denying that), we must keep in mind that it's an estimate. And that it's only the first week, and while huge pop stars like Gaga typically are front-loaded, the context IS different this go-round. She's coming off a year and a half of near total silence stateside. It was always feasible that this single was going to have to climb. The truth is we really won't know anything about this song's chances for sure until after the VMAs and the video. If things look this way after that, by all means, break the glass and pull the meltdown alarm. This whole post! You guys need to remember that what we're dealing here is a grower, not a shower like BTW. She didnt have a huge amount of hype behind it + most ppl dont even know she came back. I would go with this logic if Katy's song was actually good. but it's the wackest **** she has ever released. even "thinking of you" is better. You're right the GP likes catchy generic tracks like Roar but Gaga gets all figurative language-y & "deep" with her songs which might turn off the GP. They're seriously getting dumber and dumber.
