Seeing alot of critique online for American Horror Story: Coven today-but I am only celebrating! For me this was not only the best season yet, but a nice benchmark moment for American TV. The kind of horror this season encompassed was the stylish, glossy, crazy camerawork fever dream works of Dario Argento and 90s witch movies like The Craft-all mixed together and flung straight into 2014. In the days of found footage and gritty horror, its so refreshing to see horror done the way I love it. its dreamy, stylish-progressive. I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea for horror, but for those who do indulge in such horror, this season was a treat! Give it 10 years, I think we will be looking back on Coven as the most entertaining and stylish of the AHS anthologies. May not be what everyone loves, but it was what it wanted to be very, very well.

It was a very entertaining season.. I love the whole female power vibe about the coven.   And im still upset about Misty Day's death. :crossed:

^Yes its upsetting but that is precisely why I loved it.  It reminds us that in the world of Coven no one is safe even when people have the power to resurrect and it was a huge risk.  I feel like alot of people (not saying you are just from what i am reading) are confusing quality with what they want.  Just because your favorite character had a "bad ending" doesn't mean it was a bad decision.  I love it-it shows the creators have balls and pull no punches and where the horror of the season shines.  It was disturbing, scary, sad and oh so good :)

I think most of the critique about the season is about the lack of a clear plot line and the extreme mood changes the characters had, along with the stories left unanswered like the killer vagina thing... and the way Misty Day died

Totally agree except if I could of had it my way Misty would have had some kind of positive spin to her death... BUT for the purpose of entertainment and of course the vibe of the last episode things ended the way the did

:toofunny: He's a legend and one of Ryan Murphy's main influences for AHS(heck one of the most influential horror/thriller directors ever-everyone from John carpenter to Tarantino have been influenced by him)-check out some of his stuff-including his masterpiece Suspiria! Its one of the most beautiful horror films ever made!

Dario Argento is the only GREAT-GOOD director that we have in Italy, he's a legend, all his films have peculiarities that make you recognize you his touch, he made horror history worldwide.

YASSS.  Thats what I love about Argento in Italy (and also in Japan)-he is seen as not a legendary horror director but a legendary director. He has a distinctive style which for me makes a good director. I actually met Dario Argento when I was 16 when he was releasing La Terza Madre here in North America.  It was an amazing moment! I have a photo but it was towards the end of my awkward teenage years lol
