Robi 0
The only way it could be okay is if they had produced it for her before they played it in that club in January 2012. But still, it's a demo. She had time to overdo the production of the whole song if she wanted to. We'll see. Papa Joe liked it so there's some hope we'll hear it in its finished form on 11/11. elijahfan 25,314
M.I.A. did precisely this with Bring The Noize, taking pretty much this whole track from Marble Players, credited as producers on Bring The Noize: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9ud8Ey74H8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCkIYkaLBGs I don't really mind, as long as the songs sound cool Plus, Gaga's just a demo, even a "rough cut" according to Jeff. So who knows how it will end up? It might be totally different from what we've heard.
lodylody 1,725
And I think saying this is "mostly" the same is a bit of a stretch. Part of the intro and first verse are directly lifted, but the chorus, while it takes hints from the IM original, has gone through a heavy facelift. The second verse is approached differently than the IM original, too. So, intro is greatly extended, the chorus is altered greatly, as is the second verse, a bridge is added for this song. It's definitely a sample, but Gaga didn't just lay vocals down over the track. Definitely not, I agree with you there. Infected Mushrooms made it in the exact same style of their instrumental, most likely without much input from Gaga with regard to the musical style, to fit the lyrics and structure of the song. Storm 69
That's not true. The vocal lines aren't even that interesting if you take away the music. Interesting or not, creating a melody is not easy. lodylody 1,725
For clarification: I LOVE the song, so don't you even dare to come at me trying to paint me as a negative person who has nothing positive to say about her. Kermit the frog 1,895
lody spilled some seriousy hot truth tea. Watch out! All I hear in my head is: "I am in there writing every lyric, every melody,..." But she's not an electronic music producer, so I mean, I get that she didn't write that song herself. But it is sort of unfair that she keeps up this "I'm a true songwriter" shtick when she chose a genre in which she is forced to work with other people to provide 70% of the songs. You don't "write" an instrumental By melody she means the melodic line of verses and choruses. Instrumentals are up to producers and the fact that she helps to co-produce her songs says a lot about her ability to write electronic music.
lodylody 1,725
That's true, but are you saying that the creation of the instrumental was easier? Well it was for Gaga in this instance.
Kermit the frog 1,895
Gaga writes most of her own songs not produces them all. She is a co-producer at the very best, so I don't get why people are complaining. You know she works with PRODUCERS to make music and Infected Mushroom just happened to be one of them. Jesus. Lol exactly... some people
kupo 201
Well, no, she just made it pop song friendly and changed the structure. For clarification: I LOVE the song, so don't you even dare to come at me trying to paint me as a negative person who has nothing positive to say about her. Read my (and others') posts with care, please. In some ways, definitely. But I actually think she made the intro (by extending it and adding her creepy robotic laughter) weirder and less radio friendly. Same with the way she, Zedd, and IM changed the second verse. I think the production there is actually more abrasive and grating and challenging than the comparable portion of the IM original.

The extent of what she's done here is gone: "Add a guitar here." "We should have a breakdown here." "We should repeat this there." You could argue that's co-producing... Didymus 34,379
Ugh. I said it myself: "But she is not a producer, so I get it." Like, read my post entirely before you quote it You don't "write" an instrumental You bad gurl. Well it was for Gaga in this instance.

Katie14 4,828
Oh for the love of June. This is a demo, and people are already pressed. "The lyrics suck, the song sucks" Gurl bye. Some of us love it #longhairrealllllllydontcare This song is amazing. So what at her using the instrumental? I can't at some of you trying to discredit her, because she sampled ONE song, and now suddenly "she's not involved in the creative process." Get real I love the song. But Gaga always talks about how involved she is when she creates music. I expect more from her and I am disappointed that she used an instrumental from another song and layed her vocals and melody on top of it.
