ARTPOP is not going to be free through the app. You can download the app for free, but the musical part of it will cost money after the download if you want to access it. Gaga's tweet:The ARTPOP app is Free, available in App Stores on your device. You can purchase the music through the ARTPOP app once it's downloaded. Bill's tweet (in response to a tweet claiming that the music on the app was free):@slave2damusic @billboard err the music isnt free in gaga's case.Another tweet from Bill:As we understand, Gaga fans get #ARTPOP app for free & can buy the album in-app. Albums purchased this way would count on Billboard charts. Bill even commented on Perez trying to start a stan war between Gaga and Katy fans. @bwerde The @ladygaga v @katyperry storyline is fun for media. Tommymonster44 0 Posted August 1, 2013 Share Posted August 1, 2013 So basically all we learned is that buying singles in the app count as single sales, buying the album in the app counts as album sales, pre-orders both physical, digital, and app-based count as first week sales, and app sales will be monitored by the normal groups to make sure the numbers are accurate and unbiased.
