Gaga is making the time old statement about airbrushed photos of celebrities we see in the media (ie Dove Evolution ad). It's an ARTPOP statement in the sense that shes trying to convey the message that BEAUTY IS A LIE. I had another idea for another possible explanation. As with her glasses of multiple lenses, the pictures reveal the discrepancy between the clear and raw image of the icon (ART) and the image of the icon modified by commercial lenses (POP).
