Plot twist: Burqa is actually a pro-Islam AND pro-Feminism song because the two can, contrary to popular belief, exist at the same time.

I fully trust that Gaga wouldn't alienate an entire fan base (the Muslim community) over a song. Firstly it'd be a terrible business move, secondly it's dangerous career and health-wise, thirdly she has an innate ability to dash any prior conceptions. Burqa could very well be, as has been mentioned before, a song of empowerment that declares the strength in a woman's choice to wear or not to wear the burqa.  A lot of women wear that garb proudly and Gaga knows this. She wouldn't portray it negatively.

....is that a twist?? that's what I assumed the whole time! God I hope nobody was so enveloped in anti-islam propaganda that they thought islam was the opposite of feminism and GaGa was going to use it in that way.  :wtf:

Have you thought about a career in Record Label management? Your "it's just dance music, the lyrics dont matter" attitude would come in really, really handy

yeah cause instead of scheisse if the song was called freedom and the word scheisse wasn't mentioned whatsoever, it would made a huge difference for you while dancing in front of your mirror like a slut.

Kermit the frog

Everyone's arguments about Burqa are making me cringe. You're probably right about it being dangerous - that's why she should want to do it. That is the kind of thing GaGa does. She "hits the nerve."

As for it actually being dangerous I don't think it's going to be as big of a problem as you all think. Not only that but the argument against it should be that it might be offensive in a cultural appropriation type way - like when no doubt had that music video with native american head dresses and stuff and got dragged for it. Burqas are part of a culture that GaGa is not a part of. She is going to utilize this symbol to send a message - and I think that might be the most controversial thing of all worldwide. It's not just the religious extremists.

That's what I'm trying to tell you. Doesn't matter if it's offensive or not, most of people will take it as such. Just as it was with Judas. Except Christians wouldn't send a suicide bomber to kill gaga (I don't mean to offend anyone, I know only psycho muslim extremists are like that)

You guys are the only thing keeping me from passing out on my computer keyboard right now, which I'm planning to stay up all night. So keep talking. Can we discuss some fashion/looks we'd like to see on her, or Ideas for Music Videos?  :flutter:

We all care about her safety and wellbeing, but if she isn't pushing peoples buttons, she might as well not exist. I don't see her life turning into The Bodyguard over a song

right right okay. we have reached common ground. That said I may disagree with myself because I think if she really opens people's eyes to how freeing and in-line with feminism wearing a burqa or any kind of headdress/covering/garb can be - it won't be seen as offensive. At least I hope so. I think breaking apart the notion that we need to free women in islamic countries who choose to/enjoy wearing burqas or whathaveyou is really important
