lhurtadojr 0
I love gaga and I can't wait for new music. But is anyone else worried about the single being about Fame and Applause!? I'm scared general public is gonna roll their eyes. I just hope is a song everyone can relate too not just the fans yeah I've been thinking about this a lot. I don't want it to hurt her impression on the GP if she sounds like a fame-hungry obsessed with glam girl cause that just gives off a self centered kind of persona, but I have faith :-)

I think that as long as the chorus is strong and catchy and has a decent hook she can get away with it. We're almost out of the 20's The wait's starting to drag a bit now

I need the single to be mainstream so everyone is here for her again... DJWS production + the lyrics she's posted/hinted at are scaring me tbh... BricksNStrings 215
I secretly hope Gaga's album sells amazingly well, app is a huge success, videos get ton of views, and everything is critically acclaimed...but I hope her singles FLOP. Why? Because I'm so tired of people wanting Gaga to sell out and give up her artistic integrity just for a hit. I've said it before: look back in the 70s, 80s and 90s at most of the #1 hits....you won't recognize most of the names. How many number ones did Bowie have? Prince? The Smiths? Sure MJ topped the charts most of the time...your beloved/hated McDonna sure didn't. Gaga is a rock star who sings pop music...she's not the next Britney or the next Madonna. She will be in history books for her talent and boldness, not how many #1s she had. Rihanna doesn't write **** and releases singles every damn day and gets tons of #1s. Guess what? No one will know who she was in 30 years. Cuz she didn't wear a meat dress, or trailblaze with songs that are double entendres for bis-xuality, or put out ten minute self-directed epic music videos that chronicle dark portions of her life. So, like I said, maybe if Gaga's singles FLOP (which they most likely won't, as Born This Way, which you all complained about, was a huge hit) then y'all will shut the hell up about hoping she's "commercial" and "wins back the public". Is the Applause cover commercial? Not at all. It's a beautiful work of art. But she is making fine art commercial with this album...a reverse Warholian expedition. Gaga is a trendsetter. SHE will decide what is commercial and big in music, not conform to currently existing trends just so she can have a cheap number one

Sit. I miss gaga in the clubs, where i'd hear a billion of her songs every night. I miss hearing her on the radio, when i'm driving in my car and needing a boost. None of that really happened during the BTW era. Wanting her to go back to her TFM success does not imply we want her to sell out.
EnigmaMonstr 26
People are worried that she wont be singing about loving yourself anymore... but like... did no one ever listen to her first album? Or even her second album for that matter? First one was totally self centered. And yeah, the second one was a lot more profound, but I'm pretty sure ARTPOP is gonna be really profound topics too. Just not about morally right, self love.

Americano 31,061
No. I hate snippets. I want the song to be an actual surprise, and it should be judged in full. Knowing her fans, they'll hate it based off of 2 seconds, nevermind 10.

Knowing her fans, they'll hate it based off of 2 seconds, nevermind 10. :trootea: Even reading lyrics sometimes ruins the surprise for me. When a snippet is released, it's out of context and usually can't reflect the true nature of the piece. Hence the meltdowns from stans when they don't like what they hear (or even read, if it's lyrics). So hopefully we don't have to deal with that. I'd rather it be one, gracious single drop. Highway10 1,072
ugh I'm so excited to hear The Applause i'm hoping its really fresh and nothing shes done before. I think it will be like MTN 2.0 but I trust in Gaga and her team.

You don't just GO back to your success lol. You try to make it happen with your new work. I don't want her to flop or anything but I agree with the sentiment that she shouldn't focus her energy on getting number 1's.
EnigmaMonstr 26
My friend just pointed out that ARTPOP is pretty much a color on the color spectrum that humans can't see. But on 8/19 and 11/11 we will be able to see it. Good a--logy.
