I'm so confused as to why people have decided it's a song title at all, let alone the lead single Come on, we all know Gaga. She started saying 'Born This Way' months before she announced it as an album title. The same thing with ARTPOP. The same goes to a lot of the song titles she previously capitalized in some of her tweets. I assume some of them never made the cut, but a lot of them did. And now we're too close to the lead single release so she wouldn't just throw random or fake hints around. If that autograph is not fake or old, I guarantee that it's the title. I don't mind it being different from Top 40 radio, but if it's pretentious and all about her, it won't relate to people as much, and we all know how that will end. I feel like people are assuming that if there's a song called Applause, it will be about how she deserves applause (thus the "pretentious" claims). I think that it's more likely it would be about her NEED for applause to validate herself, not about her deserving it because she's amazing. That would be so unlike her.
