What is this idea that one should not be feel unhappy if they have money? This kind of statement pops up whenever a celebrity complains about the media invading their lives, as if money fixes all problems. It doesn't.

Money fixes about 99.99 percent of problems. Go to Africa and ask people there about real problems in life like starving to death and slaving your life away just to put food on the table, not "omg im too famous now what am I going to do?".

I actually have been to many parts of Africa... Have you?

The poverty in many parts of Africa is literally indescribable. I have trouble putting it into words. Even some of the nicer parts of countries such as South Africa have shanty towns and crippling poverty. In some of the worst places I would dispel the myth people seem to have that the people living in poverty are "poor but happy". It certainly isn't the case, especially when your parents, siblings, children, infants, babies, family, friends are dying around you. A lot of the "ghetto" areas in impoverished countries have a strong sense of community though. People seem relatively happy there, in my experience.

I don't know how that justifies a flock of paparazzi aggressively shouting at you and pushing around your family whenever you walk out of your house. I'm sure you don't have any problems, and you never get upset because I guarantee there are people who have lived a far worse life than you have.

Money doesn't equal happiness. The people in impoverished nations are not sad because they don't have money.

They don't have food and clean water, they are constantly sick, their life expectancy is low and all of their loved ones are dying around them. Those are the "problems" these people face and they are very significant, it's no wonder they are not happy, but I don't think you have witnessed how extreme these conditions are if you don't think anyone else has problems.

The way you just casually throw in "Go to Africa and ask people there about real problems in life" when somebody has a problem in their life seems to reduce the suffering of these people into some sort of mild inconvenience. What these people have to deal with on a daily basis isn't a "problem" it is a reality of life for them.

My problems, your problems and Lorde's problems don't compare with the suffering of some people in places such as Sub Saharan Africa but that doesn't mean that we cannot be upset, frightened and hurt.

If a crowd of people started following me at the airport, shouting at me and physically pushing around me and my family I would be pretty frightened and upset too.

Read what she actually said, she didn't complain about having money or being famous. She complained that there was a crowd of paparazzi physically bowling over her family.

I think Tennis Court deserves to be re-released now that she has more traction. I think US singles should go like this.

Royals

Team

Tennis Court

Ribs

White Teeth Teens

If you had to replace one of the ten songs on Pure Heroine by anything else in her catalogue, what would it be?

Tennis Court

400 Lux

Royals

Ribs

Buzzcut Season
Team

Glory and Gore

Million Dollar Bills

White Teeth Teens

A World Alone

Still Sane is fine, but Million Dollar Bills would make a good transition between Glory and Gore and White Teeth Teens. A nice trilogy of upbeat songs.

Gaga is Life

I think it'd be cool if Tennis Court was released in the US. I'm all for 400 Lux being a single as well :flutter:

Lorde just performed "Team" on primetime German television!

I think the popular game show "Schlag den Raab" is the most watched show on a Saturday Evening so she had quite a big audience.

However, the perfomance was not one of her best tbh :toofunny:

Money only solves problems until you reach the point of sustainability. (Have enough food, water, shelter, clothing, culture etc)

Past that, money doesn't make you happy. It only distracts you from your unhappiness so you don't have to face it. Cable TV doesn't make people happy, it just keeps their mind occupied for a while. A private jet doesn't improve someone's life, it just creates an illusion that they have a better life.

so your saying she cant complain because theres people that have it worse?  :wtf:

looks like you cant complain to your parents that your hungry because, well, there is starving kids in africa!

and you also cant complain if you move to a place you dont want to, because theres kids without houses!

you cant complain that you're thirsty either, cause theres kids that go days without water!

you also cant complain about needing new clothes because there is kids with barely scraps!

i mean..  :excuseme:

You can't complain about being too famous when you're a singer who has desperately done everything possible to get your name and music out there, and then once you have success turn around and complain about it the second you get it.

Its annoying. Do you know how many musicians would kill to have 1 percent of her success?

"Oh, people care too much about my music and life now, poor me I can't handle my 15 minutes of fame. When I got back from winning awards on international television for my art I just couldn't bear the paparazzi at home. "

She's been famous for like 2 seconds. How about stop being a pretentious little twat for a minute and just enjoy the success she's having. Her whole persona reeks of entitled holier than thou BS, and its really just her immaturity shining thru.

Why are the people in Africa dying and sick and hungry and have no clean water?

Its because they have no money to pay for anything.

When your number 1 problem is "the media is too interested in my life because my art is so successful", I don't have sympathy for that. No one cares. You don't see Madonna crying to the media, because this is exactly what she signed up for, and shes a mature adult. Can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen baby.
