She is saying that's ok though...

Did anyone actually read what she said?

“People like to paint me in a certain way, but I’m a hugely s-x-positive person and I have nothing against anyone getting naked. For me personally I just don’t think it really would complement my music in any way or help me tell a story any better. It’s not like I have a problem with dancing around in undiesâ€â€I think you can use that stuff in a hugely powerful way. It just hasn’t felt necessary for me.â€

She doesn't care how much artists like Miley strip off and dance, but it isn't for her.

People will say anything to bring Lorde down a peg or two.

Her issue with Come and Get It in the first place wasn't it's s-xual themes in the first place. Her issue was how the song presents women, or specifically Selena, as some object ready to be used for a man's desire. She did point out how the song does nothing to empower women and it totally flew over Selena's head  :toofunny: Lorde's right, again, with her whole s-x-positive thing. It's actually pretty refreshing. You have Adele saying her music "isn't for the eyes, it's for the ears" and how she won't bust her boobs out on stage. You have Katy talking about how nudity doesn't seem artistic to her or something like that.

Then there's Lorde whose music is anything but s-xual, yet she fully supports performers who utilize s-xuality as a means of independence  :worship:

HOW ARE PEOPLE STILL MAD AT HER

She's a brilliant, talented, acclaimed prodigy with an amazing album and huge overnight success. Plus she's freakin' 17 years old. I swear she has people bitter about it. The only remaining criticism is that she's against the s-xual freedom of women and this is her publicly making it clear that she is not a slut-shamer.

How does shirtless boys in the royals video have any relevance to this? I wasn't aware of the blatant s-xualization there, weird how it went right over my head, right?

Also, people still saying she's pretentious, goodbye. She's done nothing but reassure people that she ain't sh*t. In reality, she's the whole sh*t so she's actually quite humble if you pay attention...

This.

Selena Gomez is tripe. Come and Get It is generic and not feminist. Feminism isn't, like, totally, about supporting other women in their bad decisions. Gomez needs to read some books.

"When you're ready come and get it..." How about no. How about you come and get it when I'm good and ****ing ready, and b---h I'll let you know the exact moment.

the thing is tho, no one said that it WAS necessary for her. and it obviously isn't since she's successful w/o. she doesn't need to comment on other songs or how others dress. focus on your own music sis.

From what I understand, this song is about a woman telling a guy who's not interested that if he decides to reciprocate, she'll still be around. It's a taunting/s-xy thing, like "I'm ready whenever. When are you?" It seems that she is not together with this guy (you got the kind of love I want, let me get that, once I'm yours, no take backs) and she's trying to convince him to enter a relationship with her. I don't think this is anti-feminist. She's saying that even though she's not afraid to "show her love," she's going to wait for him to reciprocate instead of forcing herself on him. Basically like giving someone a job offer and they say they're not interested, and you say "if you change your mind, call me." I don't really think it's about passivity or "taking what you want."

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what your objection in particular is. I know Lorde objected to the passivity of it and the dependence on a man, but you're saying "I'll let you know the exact moment." Are you saying the speaker should be active in pursuing the man?

This article is also really weird because I don't think Lorde was slut-shaming Gomez. Her objection was to the representation of women as passive, not women as s-xual beings.

Good to know she's s-x-positive. I agree with her that dancing in my undies probably wouldn't bring anything to my music (not to mention I'd look really awkward doing it like let's not) but have nothing against others doing it.

I'm actually starting to like her a bit more now. Not gonna lie, I can't stand her fanbase, but she seems to be self aware, interested in educating herself, and genuine. I can take that even if she is a bit haughty sometimes

I can't at people calling her a

prodigy though. She's talented and probably ahead of the curve, but musically (assuming she is involved in the musical aspects of her songs and not just the lyricism) she's not anything special. Lyrically I can't say much because I like a lot of stupid poetry. I guess I like her stuff but it doesn't seem mind blowing for her age.
