Are you talking about Solace?

Ray of Light was more acid tripping.

fumbling towards ecstasy. it has some serious ambient and spacious electronic production, just like ray of light.

like i dont even want anyone to think im hating on ray of light. it is hands down my favorite madonna albums. just sayin

although i dont consider ray of light acid tripping lol i feel like the mood of ray of light is summed up by the power of goodbye video. its so spacious and clean and minimal.

The iconic Poker Face made dance pop MAINSTREAM , the fact radio refused to play Just Dance for being too 'dance' during whole 2008 says it all (did someone really say she just got 'lucky' :wtf: )

Since 2009 (aka the year of Poker Face) there've been way more dance pop hits than prior years

the fame and fergie's solo record the duchess to me seemed like they both became because of gwens solo record imo

everyone keeps saying blackout but gwen literally pulled out the synths and electro beats before britney, gaga, and madonna even.

and the rich girl themes in the songs/videos. the blonde wig and eueropop beats. the production still actually sounds more fresh then the fame, listening to them right now.

i remember thinking when watching poker face that she was like a mash of gwen stefani & donatella.

Yes you can. I understand that many people contributed to making electronic music popular. And I also understand that it took time for it to become mainstream. But their was only one artist that other people or artists looked at and said, "this is what we should all be doing with our music".

this thread went wrong before it even began; with the poll question. it's already a lost cause because the question in this thread is about narrowing it down to one person, one moment in time, one year or decade, which you just can't.

Well, you sure sound like you're hating on it.

If you compare specific songs with each others you'll realize that they are not as similar as you thought,

You could tell Ray of Light is a pop album in songs like Nothing Really Matters and Ray of Light, while you can't in Solace.

Ray of Light was also bigger production and more well made.

i love the fame and i refuse to diss it. but rob fusari just wasnt a high quality producer in my opinion.

although in my opinion just dance and poker face sound as fresh as gwens production imo (notice neither were produced by fusari).

and yeah gaga got a lot of gwen comparisons when she first came out. to me gaga sort of channeled the whole harajuku vibe much more successfully in the fame era than the other gwen jacker nicki minaj.

i explained this in another thread. it was more about her being a new artist and being more underground at the time. and just dance, frankly, is one of her weaker singles on the album. it only went #1 due to her kept on pushing it to make it happen throughout the year and her label not giving it enough attention to top 40 radio station when it first came out.

sarah mclachlan did and she made an album that musically sounded similar to ray of light before madonna did lol

Again, IMPACT. This thread is about impact, I'm guessing no actual pop star names Sarahwhatever between their inspirations.

how do i sound like im hating on it just because im not like everyone else that just declares it a game changing moment for music without actually recognizing what was going on in music at the time of its release?

i never claimed ray of light to be a direct rip off of fumbling towards ecstasy. but its use of spacial and ambient production with a self reflective theme to me is a pretty major tying factor into how ray of light wasnt as out of left field and original as so often madonna fans claim it to be. sarah was a hugely influential artist through the mid to late 90s.

and the fact that youre saying ray of light is more well made just sounds like stan ignorance to me.

seriously people act like gaga fans are bad

it took awhile to gain traction because she was a pretty bold unknown pop artist with electronic dance/pop which was not predominantly getting major radio rotation at the time for sure. but it blew up to the proportion that it did because it is one of her strongest singles ever imo. its not the most original but its surely one of the best.

Hello,Madonna introduced that sound greatly to pop mainstream.

Hello,Madonna introduced that sound greatly to pop mainstream.

done.

not arguing with ignorance

the whole sound of that album was what was happening at the time. madonna just made a really well thought out pop record. she was a huge player in the pop landscape but i refuse to say she single handedly brought that sound to mainstream because in all honesty that sound was already mainstream.

its like saying gaga single handedly brought dance pop to the mainstream. she didn't, but their popularity attributes it to them. im just acknowledging the difference

as opposed to what youre doing? blindly following what everyone elses opinion of her is and not educating yourself on popular music to make an actual and true judgement of what certain artists and albums contribute in the scope of popular culture.

it goes a lot deeper than just reading some review that declares an album gold and then regurgitating to everyone the statement that " madonnas the kweeEEeN!~"

Tbh I don't give a flying **** about it, I like some pop artists, but I don't see how "educating myself in popular culture" ( :lmao:) is gonna get me anywhere, I gave my opinion, deal with it.
