calmar 23,108
For context on this Mississippi thing. The contested Bush vs. Gore presidential election in 2000 hinged ultimately on some 530 votes in Florida, or about 0.009% of that state's votes in that election. The current Mississippi senatorial race, as given at 97% results in, stands at a total of 945,464 votes, with a difference between the rep and dem candidates as 28 votes. That is 0.003% percent. This is three times closer (very roughly) than Bush vs. Gore right now. Edited Wednesday at 06:22 AM by calmar 3

calmar 23,108
"In an upset that many analysts did not see coming, Democratic nominee J.D. Ford has defeated three-term Rep. Victoria Spartz in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. The Democratic pickup comes in a district that Trump won by nearly 17 percentage points two years ago. Ford is the first openly gay member of the Indiana General Assembly. Spartz is the first and only Ukrainian-born member of Congress." - AP 1 1
calmar 23,108
Oh and this is BIG - "Democrat Johnny Garcia won election Wednesday to the U.S. House of Representatives representing Texas’ 35th Congressional District, defeating Republican Carlos De La Cruz." This democrat win of a House seat puts democrats at 219 seats out of 436, slightly above half. This indicates that the democrats have taken both the house and the senate in the 2026 elections. 1
