Theirs is kinda like ours, but is more based on the UK's system than ours is.

Their house has representatives from electoral districts that people in those districts elect, like we do, although those electoral districts don't map like states or like counties, but something in size kind of in between in many cases. The number of representatives from each area depends on population, like our house.

Their senate is similar in that the idea is that each region gets equal representation. It's just that (a) those regions are not the same as the provinces, but kind of like saying "the midwest gets some senators, and the east coast gets a few"; and (b) they have to be okayed by the governor general of canada, kind of like how our president has to okay ambassadors. The four regions are the Maritime division, the Quebec division, the Ontario division, and the Western division. They each get 24 senators. Newfoundland and Labrador confusingly isn't part of the maritime division and gets 6 of its own senators; Canada's three territories (Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut) each get 1 senator, giving (24 * 4) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 105 senators.

Like Franch Toast said, the equivalent of our state governor is a provincial premier.

Important addition to this: we don't vote for senators, it's an appointed position! Which I think is where my confusion comes in

I AM GONNA THROW UP

TALARICO'S WIN IS SO CLOSE

He has a solid lead.  If he can hold on to Denton and Collin County, two large suburb counties near Dallas, i could see him sweeping the suburbs of Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

The New Democratic Party taking a majority in a native majority territory is why right wingers are often so terrified of native people getting more representation. The natives don't play with good social values.

Sad to see how Green has lower representation just like in the US...
