Wasn’t she going to re record that album at least Tik Tok

She has recorded Animal/Cannibal & Warrior, but it's likely there are contractual obligations governing what she can do and when.
There's 2 copyrights on song recordings - the composition copyright and the specific recording copyright (this is a "master").

Taylor, for example, owned the first not the latter. So was in a position to make the re-recorded new masters because she ultimately owned the song writing/composition publishing rights. She just had to wait out till the contractual period blocking re-recordings expired.

Last year Kesha said she can do it in "3 years, 8 months and 3 days" in response to a social media comment. Which would be March 5th 2029.

I love that for her fans.

My dream used to be Gwen Stefani releasing Serious (there's a small part of it online but it wasn't finished because of her first pregnancy and they shelved it. I side-eye Gwen now but I low-key would like to see it. Amazing song.

You like the fat girl I got in me 🍕

this is that case where I'm like on the one hand I'd like to see the full thing but on the other you are right and it's probably the best that we'll never get to see it :franminervini:

Probably a controversial opinion but she is NOT a legacy act lol. She’s absolutely a Khia in the same vein of Katy Perry (but even worse in terms of success). A legacy artist implies some cultural legacy, of which she has none. Recession pop and Electropop were already happening (thanks to people like Gaga) when she was introduced, and heavily auto tuned vocals was already invented and popularised by Cher and various Pop-Punk artists in the 2000s. Sure she had great music but she absolutely isn’t a legacy artist.

I’m also forever grateful Gaga hasn’t gone “back” and is always a forward looking person, she’s never retroactively made a music video or put all her promo into one, all they did for Bloody Mary was release some vinyls and CDs. She didn’t do what people like Katy did with TOTGA or anything. Even the anniversary edition of Born This Way and Dawn of Chromatica weren’t promoted by her beyond a tweet.

I hope Gaga stays forward thinking and doesn’t do anything like this. It comes across as nostalgia bait. I prefer her version of nostalgia with Mayhem where she made NEW music inspired by her old music.

I'm not going to argue on the legacy act term, what I meant was that she relies on her old hits as her newest music doesn't make noise for a variety of reasons. We both agree that she isn't too present nowadays.

As for Gaga, I don't see how revisiting her previous work would not make her a "forward looking person". Before you head somewhere, don't forget where you come from. She performs her old hits in every single tour (even removing songs from the album the tour is supposed to promote), and tries to fit them into her current era. That is also a way of art. I'm not asking to release an EP like Katy did, but I'm sure she has some good stuff in the vault that she could rework. A lot of her projects from the past were destroyed or sabotaged by her management at the time, so being able to finally achieve her vision now, from a more mature perspective, is a very powerful and artistic thing to do. And, in my opinion, a much better thing for the fans than both Dawn of Chromatica and the BTW anniversary edition, as this is coming from her, and not a bunch of other artists.

On the Gaga management side I made a full threads before breaking down her her management hierarchy ACTUALLY worked and, only ARTPOP ever suffered from major interference after Troy Carter became more than just her Manager and was doing 3 people’s jobs at once.

He went from managing her (which means controlling her schedule and making sure she turns up for things her PR, A&R and Marketing team come up with) to having more to do with her PR and financial backing, hence why the push for her image change in 2012 and all the controversial stuff that came out after the 2020 data breech—like the MANiCURE video treatment, Robin Thicke on a demo of Sex Dreams, Kanye West as a feature on the album potentially and more. Troy focused on his own wealth because he went from getting ONE cut of the pie to THREE, even going as far as selling FAME and it’s likeness back to COTY from under her. Bobby was in control of her marketing, he was her CMO since The Fame before he became her Manager.

Every album all she does is run her ideas by Marketing, PR and Management through Atom Factory, they then told her A&R what each department wanted what and they then have to decide what’s viable, and then they would make a budget and go to the label heads. And then the budget would either be accepted or rejected, if rejected they had to reconfigure her ideas.

Now she owns Lil Monsters LLC and Morninglow LLC she has control over her own Management, PR and Marketing. All she has to report to is the A&R and label heads now. Because before she would tell those departments and they would then consult her and tell her if she needed to amend things like ideas based on what was feasible financially and creatively—now she doesn’t have that boundary since the early 2020s. The label gives her money, she divides it between LM and MG and then that pays for everything. The only other time she has to go outside of that is touring when she has to have financial and business backing from Live Nation. Who pays the venues, the staff and the transport of her, her team and her stage and props and costumes.

Kesha will get to that point hopefully, but financially she has more than enough money to self fund a new album with good pop producers WITHOUT physical distribution; it’s the beauty of the streaming era. Then she could drop things like limited edition vinyls.

She should steal Katy’s old thunder and work with Max Martin and Bonnie McKee tbh and make an amazing pure pop album.

RAMROD

Just got the limited vinyl. It is so cool. :applause:

I hope Gaga will do something like this for some singles. Maybe she would finally released Venus and have bats or scorpion shaped vinyl?

It’s…fine, very of the time and not that interesting tbh. Wasn’t any point in releasing it if I’m honest. But whatever.

Oh honey not arguing, just exchanging ideas.

And I've been watching the video since it came out :vegas: I find it a bit random to release it now rather than when the song went viral, but appreciate it regardless

Kesha and Katy new music is no relevant, so it is reasonable move to promote their old music instead. Kinda sad though :(

it is sad, especially when there's songs like ORIGAMI! which imo deserved better :crossed:
