Red 99,670
I’m done with society giving platforms to people that should be given a one-way ticket to the core of the Sun If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
timdrake 3,046
I mean I’m not shocked someone would want to do a documentary about the evolution of her public perception. I can’t go two days without seeing people talk about her, for better or for worse. It’s an interesting cultural story regardless, and you’d be surprised how many people who aren’t super online don’t know about her stances on trans issues. If I understand correctly, she has no involvement in this, so I don’t see the issue some people have with this. It’s not like they’re giving her two hours to stare down the lens and espouse her views. There are a million documentaries about polarizing figures, both dead and alive. My only hope is that the situation is portrayed factually without an overwhelming bias from either side of the conversation. There is a lot of misinformation about what she has said, what she helps to fund, and what her endgame is, and I believe exaggeration and misinformation helps no one. I just prefer documentaries to show credibility by sticking to facts, and not play a specific angle.
Sarah H 4,499
It could be quite interesting. I'll wait to see what it's like before judging it. Edited Wednesday at 11:20 PM by Sarah H
gagzus 26,774
It’s more about her success as an author apparently and it’s because the Harry Potter reboot starts this year so the BBC are trying to cash in (ITV hasn’t yet despite religiously airing the movies over and over every year, and I’m shocked this isn’t an ITV docu series tbh.) If they skim over her gender critical transphobic views after censoring a Protect The Dolls shirt on Strictly, cancelling the only gay dating show series on British TV (I Kissed a Girl/Boy) and cancelling one of their most successful shows that has had multiple trans contestants (Drag Race)—I’d not be surprised.
gagzus 26,774
Also unless you’re from the UK, you honestly can’t understand how much of a driving force for public transphobia she is. She’s funded and donated to TERF organisations USING her royalties from Harry Potter—so yes, she IS using your money to be a transphobe despite what dumb af Harry Potter fans think, she’s helping sue a hospital that had an inclusive toilet and changing space, she’s one of the primary reasons the Single Sex Spaces thing is a big point and a bull was passed and she is actively harming and revelling in the discrimination she is causing. Genuinely a vile woman. Edited Wednesday at 11:54 PM by gagzus
gagzus 26,774
For anyone who wants actual GOOD written magic/wizard fiction I recommend getting into Brandon Sanderson, that man is a MACHINE at churning out amazing deep books he has wrote like 150 books or something crazy in like 20 years. Check out Mistborn and the rest of it’s series. It’s currently in development to become a movie soon too.

ladyabramovic 735
Honest question: is there anything she could possibly do to both redeem herself but to also educate her views? She's done so much damage as it is and I'm wondering what people think about the idea of someone like her learning from her deeply hurtful and harmful mistakes. Can people like this change? What would it take her doing in order to be on the good side again?

What would it take her doing in order to be on the good side again? Given the fact she’s actively using her millions to advocate for discrimination I doubt she’ll ever change, it’s gone beyond rhetoric, like she’s funding a women who is suing an NHS hospital in the UK for have an inclusive changing area for instance, and said she will continue until trans people can no longer be allowed into the changing rooms or bathrooms of their gender. What’s ironic is she pretended to be a male author when she first was published (hence why she uses her initials instead) and it wasn’t until the movies started being made she became a public face and also has told a story about how she felt like she wasn’t maybe a girl when she was a kid. But she’s used that to justify her transphobia AND her homophobia and misandrist views.
