I LOVE the Weeknd and went to his concert. That is NOT a Michael Jackson level entertainer. Same can be said of Alex and Charlie. Not MJ level entertainers.

Charlie is an inspiration for me as an independent musician, his music IS really fun and funky but too referencial to be revolutionary.

I think it’s a bit redundant to require an artist to be on the level of MJ (who didnt automatically start on that level himself) and to be revolutionary to be classified as a good male artist. 

If that’s the case then there’s also no good female artists because they aren’t on the level of Madonna’s early years. And if revolutionary is a requirement then neither MJ nor Madonna fall into that category because they were good at collaging together remnants of the past to sell to the masses. Madonna especially. 

Which isn’t a critique because they were good at it.
