I prefer Whitney but Celine’s That’s the Way It Is and Hymne à l'amour are just as legendary as Whitney’s best songs and performances.

I never completed the course credits for Gay School—got bullied by the boys  but I grew up around rhythmic liturgies and vocal Masses, so something intrinsic about that soul Whitney embodies and articulates just resonates with a certain nostalgic familiarity … but that’s just my take on the blink

I won’t vote in this. They’re 100% equals to me in their own specific lanes.   They both feed my soul and blow me away for different reasons.  Old school Mariah too.

Considering Celine’s current vocal showcase and Whitney’s before she died they absolutely wouldn’t. Whitney suffered a massive range shrinkage, same as Celine. Mariah’s range is still pretty wide considering.

To be fair … the original reference was Whitney or Celine, to which you included Mariah (“even in their peaks”); so it seems diversionary to now reference Whitney “before she died” and Celine‘s “current vocal showcase,” especially without referencing Mariah‘s recent vocal showcases … just, fair is fair, and to maintain focus … but I could be misinterpreting the original parameters and comparative progression

 

ETA: Noted the “considering,” but I haven‘t heard a non lip-synced recent Mariah performance … so that might just be my lapse in current vocal reference for the third option
