ShapeOfACelebrity 32
It is a good song but I don't think it's one of her best tho. We are Plastic and We melt in Summer.

As I said, Venus was to be the second single, chosen by Gaga (finally being able to choose something re: this album) and DWUW a buzz/promo single for ARTPOP itself but the latter performed incredibly well almost immediately chart-wise, hence the switch from the label (I remember reading her tweets back then and her enthusiasm was more than a bit forced, she kept mentioning Venus even)... Knowing that Venus had been Gaga's original choice and almost got its MV, I would've LOVED to see her full audiovisual expresssion that must've been akin to a psychedelic trip/surrealistic exploration of herself and her womanhood/dive into spacetime and/or mythology she had in mind and kept teasing before DWUW blew up. Not to mention we didn't get a second single (funded in full by her) until six months later due to DWUW... Anyway, even if Venus wasn't in the running to be a single, I'd still have loved to see her creative vision for that MV, charts be damned. That's all I meant. SleepingSun 1,564
Whether Venus would've been a success as single or not, it still is one of my favorite Lady Gaga songs and a highlight of ARTPOP. Is the song clunky and a little jarring? Sure. But that is exactly what I needed at that time (and still do from time to time): Music that isn't uniform and perfectly produced, but charms with a quirky character born from its own imperfections. That's Venus One second I'm a troll, then suddenly the troll is me.
