Streaming force or not, Gaga makes incredible music. The fact that it takes collaborating with one of the biggest streaming forces for her to finally top the charts is really more of an indictment on the charts and the GP's taste than it is on Gaga's ability.

The fact that Abracadabra didn't out stream DWAS two fold or more? That's not Gaga's fault  that's the common man being deaf and tasteless  

Happy to see Billie up there with her though  

I mean, if we're being real Billie's brother is easily 50% of her success story and she'd probably be willing to admit that

Yes, she's a true inspiration and icon. Just to riff of off your point, I want Gaga to do Soul (even if mainly pop) so bad. Doesn't matter if it's a Harlequin-like LG7.5 (LOOOOVE Harlequin) or just a few tracks inspired by the genre, she'd be masterful at it! I need Soul!Ga.  Sorry for hijacking your thoughts, lol.

You're incorrect about this. During the Chromatica era Gaga sat in the Top Ten most streamed artists. I think she peaked at #4 during her debut week of Chromatica and stayed around that for about a month. She also broke back into the Top Ten several times by herself like when Hold My Hand came out she temporarily did and also when Bloody Mary went viral. She probably would have too upon Mayhem's release because of the popularity of Abracadabra. Overall she sat comfortably by herself in the 15-20 range during the years before DWAS. So this is just not true. She is a streaming force now. DWAS certainly pushed her wayyyyyy up. But....its weird to me. If Beyonce had Jay on a track or Rihanna used her writing camps or Madonna used her writing camps or Billie used a concept that her brother made for her or Sabrina had someone like Max Martin come in and basically lay the entire groundwork for a song and added lyrics.....which all of them do this type of thing all the time in their writing process....would we discredit it if the song was a smash? 

 

The reality is Gaga is just very generous and has always been with her writing credits. Yes this was her first time she genuinely hopped on a song that already existed, but she DID add lyrics, harmonies, and an entire back half to the song. The iconic instrumental outro was added in because of her which is where alot of the virality comes from. And the song was apparently never gonna get released until she showed up. Truth is she literally did what all her contemporaries always do. It just looks "less her" because we are so used to her actually mostly writing her own music on a piano and then being producers in. Also do y'all think I'll Always Love You by Whitney Houston is not a Whitney song now because Dolly originally wrote and released it? Do you think Baby One More Time by Britney is not a Britney song because it was given to her from a song bank? Do you think Umbrella isn't a Rihanna song? 

There is also the fact that Bruno's OWN songs from his own era following DWAS did not become massive successes like DWAS either and he also used Rose's big k-pop following for APT. lol. 

I could understand if she hopped on a remix to get it to number one like some artists do when their single is stuck in the #2-#3 zone for weeks. That is a bit shady. But like....the song was originally released with Gaga and the creative process to get the song to where it is doesn't really matter. She made the song happen. And it would not have ever been released- without Gaga.
