I mean, I personally think it's an interesting way to capitalize off the hype and success of WGIA and reinterpret the themes, imagery, and sound off the album. For example, turning brand new chanel$ into an anthem about being cheated on also adds a new layer and changes the thematic meaning and imagery of BEAT UP CHANEL$. Lazy would just be to create and outsource a remix album using unaltered vocals, lyrics, and/or delivery to collaborators you've never met.

I couldn't help myself. I do love Dawn of Chromatica (more than actual Chromatica at times), but compared to Brat and It's Completely Different but Also Still Brat...like THAT is how you do a fully realized remix/collaboration album.

I find Slayyyter is doing a unique blend of the two with WMIA.

your definition of 'lazy' is so spot on to how DOC was made during that time period  I revisited the remix album recently because it was in a dump for £10 and I really wanted to touch the embossed details in the gatefold. Honestly, half the songs are pretty iconic and somewhat better than their originals, the other half sounds like **** sex gone wrong idk  

Whatever Slayyyter is doing, she is doing it right considering Worst Girl only came out in April, she's touring, her vinyl records are seeing huge demand. I just hope her record label is letting her take all the time she needs to get everything right then release it sometime next year.

this Crank 2 / Brand new chanels take on a new album just seems a bitforced and lazy

Brand new Chanels sounds nothing like Beat Up Chanels except for the four lines that are just a call back to the other song and it’s not even the hook.

It’s not lazy when it’s trying to tie thing together with the past album while exploring her breakup and new experiences after her rise to fame. It’s not like the songs sound the same, Crank 2 is the only song that sounds remotely similar. It’s really not that different than when Gaga released Judas or Vanish Into You which literally sound like Bad Romance

I didn't realise so much of the album was going to be an "inverse" of existing tracks, acting as a mirror as you will. This is a really great idea so that you can get more of the tracks you love (though I thought Brand New Chanels sounded very different) and by the slight instrumental I can almost hear on this trailer, this one will sound much more like a mirror, so I'm so ready. Still don't want to look at tour footage, I know the setlist but want the new songs to be a surprise until I see her.
