Apec 438
Sad that people hate it so passionately. Ditto the "boring" HMH... The latter is a deeply emotional and quite layered song if only you're open to hearing what she has to say. It's gorgeous. TDD's verses are magical yet eerie, especially the first one, and that pre-chorus "When you killed me inside, that's when I came alive" etc. is chilling considering what she's been through, it feels like a song in which she's actually processed her biggest traumas in a healthy way, not unlike some other Mayhem tracks - her "dancing" obviously a stand-in for creation... With excellent production and some truly standout lyrics I just don't get the hate. It's not my favorite but why be pleased it didn't win (if you weren't rooting for something else)? mlmc1995 299
TDD was great in the context it was commissioned for. The dance with Enid and Agnes required a song that would fit that kind of campy, sort of childish dance and the lyrics actually fit both of their situations to an extent. In the plot, it was a scene where they provided a distraction from Wednesday at a school function so she can steal something. In any case, Gaga fulfilled the brief well. And no, Zombieboy wouldn’t have fit - if it was a generic song for the soundtrack then maybe, but it was for this specific scene. She did her job, maybe fans did or didn’t like it, but she did what she was asked to do. And it is not always so easy to find someone that can do that.

These are just my thoughts. Again, not looking for a fight, I just don't get that LMAO here?

I am not looking to fight either because this is not that serious, I just think it is a bit ridiculous to say HMH is not boring or a good/deep song and that TDD is deep and well made or to connect this back to Chromatica which is unrelated. That is all you can like the songs though of course. TDD is just a silly surface level song for Wednesday and not deep and HMH is very surface level for the Top gun movie, I don't think we should be taking these songs so seriously. This is just my opinion though. Edited September 9 by imogen2133

I didn't mention Chromatica though? Anyway, re: HMH some songs can be food for the soul for some people, some things shouldn't be analyzed to death, true - just feeling them without preconceived notions can be profound, hence I said being open to what she's saying - so let people just have those opinions since you seem to have no idea how these sentiments can and do help people going through very difficult times (I'm not implying everyone). Like me, who is going through a hell of a time rn while suffering severe neuropathic pain that has kept me bedridden and nearly constantly hyperventilating for 12+ years. It came out at a time I needed it more than "normal" also, by coincidence. I've read others feeling exactly the same, uplifted by it because of their circumstances. Just telling you my truth and what I read on here, these are personal opinions and again really not looking for a fight. But you've just insulted it again by calling it boring, shallow/bad and silly? Again? I said TDD wasn't my favorite either but Mayhem is full of tidbits of Gaga's personal growth, I just meant I wouldn't be surprised there are remnants of true healing in there, that's again my opinion, not fact... I praised what I did personally like about TDD, didn't say anything regarding what I wanted it to be because that's not the point of this thread, just mentioned that I find it sad that people are pleased it didn't win, if it was a Gaga song I found silly/bad I'd have no comment and skip the thread instead. Again, this is not meant aggressively or anything - I'm just baffled tbh. You find these songs silly and bad, okay, got it. Opes I missed the part where you didn't mention Chromatica I admit I was wrong there (thought you were connecting it back to the idea of dancing through the pain but again misread my mistake) but anyway it is fine that the songs have a personal meaning to you and I am sorry that you are going through that, I just think Gaga can do better than those songs and I will not sugarcoat *my personal opinion* or dislike of the songs just because others find them meaningful is all. I will sometimes insult Gaga's songs if I find them to be bad because I am allowed to share my opinions (even if negative sometimes) it is nothing against you personally as I said you can like them that is fine. I just think if Gaga is gonna win an Emmy it should be for a better song than TDD.

Okay then, I don’t know why you would insult them in response to someone else's measured response/opinion instead of in a comment made by yourself but anyway, water under the bridge.
