I appreciate the attempt here, I guess, but I’d prefer to leave it at this point. We have forgotten our public MANNERS 1
RochesterJoannster 4,160
Fun Tonight is the best song on Chromatica Alice is the worst song on Chromatica and I don’t understand what people like about it Garden of Eden is good but it’s in the bottom half of Mayhem Applause is one of the bottom five songs on ARTPOP The Telephone music video is not one of her best (I don’t care if it’s iconic, she has at least a dozen better videos). You and I is the best video from Born This Way Eh, Eh is actually really cute, including the video 2

I said YOU were being level-headed rn I took a "character dig" at both of us because we were discussing a pattern between us. It's not like "conduct" is completely unrelated to "character" lol. I said I was more sensitive than you... but you yourself have repeatedly admitted to being petty & pedantic, even bragging about that being a trait of yours, & how you love winning arguments, etc. I said we shared those traits & that it is probably why we keep butting heads. Then I did make an attempt at being "productive" by suggesting a safeword if we were ever pushing each other too far

Head Empty 27,220
10 hours ago, G U C C I said: she needs to work with more women! In music and acting. This, so much. I kinda get annoyed with Shadow Of A Man for this reason. Surely Gaga has enough sway to pick female collaborators and projects that put women in the forefront. It's just that she likes to work with big name directors and producers, and sadly the top % of popular names is still mostly male. Same goes for the roles she picks. There's a plethora of directors and scripts that feature interesting female leads, that would definitely benefit from having someone of Gaga's caliber join the cast. But those aren't the roles she picks - it's always the woman suffering in the shadow of a man. With the platform she has, she can put so many female creatives on the map. Yet men continue to play most major roles in her material. It's time for her to put her money where her mouth is when picking her next collaborators. Chromanne 2,676
1. Songs like The Fame and Money Honey sounds too dated for 2008. 2. This is not Lady Gaga 3. Speechless sounds like The Fame reject. I prefer the live performance more. 4. Dance In The Dark is overrated. Lyrics are great but the production is not as timeless as the rest of the album. 5. Unlike Cher, if Gaga asked me to hold the meat purse, I'd refuse to do so. In fact I'd not even let her anywhere near me. 6. There is no reason to use words like "Lebanese" and "Oriental" to be in Born This Way. 7. Fashion of His Love has the worst production in Born This Way album. 8. Aura should've been a single. Perhaps it would've been more memorable than DWYW and G.U.Y. 7. Brooklyn Nights should've been in ARTPOP instead of JnD. 8. I expected more acting skills when she played the Countess other than being iconic and murdery. I felt like she was just playing murdery Lady Gaga. 9. Joanne is one of her best piece of work. From Diamond Heart to Million Reasons + Angel Down are solid masterpieces. 10. A-YO should've been the lead single of Joanne with a music video like John Wayne. 11. I loved Million Reasons music video. It made a complete little monster. It baffles me that I even have to mention that in "unpopular opinions". 12. Stupid Love is one of the most catchiest and well produced songs in Chromatica, it indeed deserved to be a single. 13. 911 should've been sent to radio with Chromatica II transition and released as a proper single. At least #50 is better than #Nothing. 14. Gaga is NOT 100% Italian. Ms. Cynthia has Scottish and French roots so Gaga should also acknowledge her other ancestries. I think that she claims she's 100% Italian because she wants to feel closer to Madonna in that way. 15. Gaga should've performed Happy Mistake in the Mayhem Ball. HOG feels like Stefani playing Lady Gaga playing Patrizia, and JFAD feels like Stefani Germanotta as Lady Gaga (not a character within a character like previously done, but her artistic name nevertheless) playing Lee. Lee is a much more nuanced character than you're giving credit for; at least, for comparison, better written than Ally/ASIB. And like, i love ASIB, but it's because I keep reading too much into the details. The actual movie fumbled the bag with Ally and reduced her to a side character on her own story, whereas Lee would've had stolen the entire film for herself if she had more scenes Ok well I really did not like Joker FOD so I don't have many positive things to say about it and I don't see the complexity in the character at all through the film she just wants him to be The Joker and not Arthur and loves him as Joker and that is it, we learn little bits about her through dialogue here and there but she is in no way fleshed out like say Arthur is in the first movie. I don't feel strongly enough about this to really argue the other points but I would not say that Lee is her best role at all.

Pokerface is one of her weakest singles. Its saving grace is that it’s repetitive enough to be an earworm. Just Another Day and Hey Girl are actually very good, but they are niche. Just Another Day gives NYC Gaga should continue her Jazz ventures because she is incredible and she does have a growing jazz fanbase. It’s fine that Gaga engages with us less, I understand. But it did feel like being ghosted how she did it. I think Gaga is a better camp/dramatic actor than she is a serious/romantic actor. I also think her acting has generally improved but is too reliant on the right chemistry. I love A Star is Born, and I love his voice; but I hate Bradley Cooper in that movie for some reason. Shallow was a bad single choice despite how well it did short term. It feels incomplete. Always Remember Us This Way should have been the lead and would have had better longevity. I’ll Never Love Again should also have been a single after release, we could have had our “man that got away” if it got radio time. I disagree completely, I love The Fame and Poker Face is amazing, I strongly dislike Joanne and everything on it, I don't care at all really for her jazz stuff and sometimes I wish she would engage with her fans more. (I also don't care at all for ASIB) but yes these are very unpopular opinions so good job.

But, realistically speaking, the project was designed to be a hit after hit album. And that's it. It's her True Blue. I also like to measure her albums by the way they're put into their corresponding tour and, honestly, I still don't get why The Monster Ball Tour is so present to this day to some of you. A snooze fest, if you ask me lol Well this is certainly a VERY unpopular one. I love The Fame Monster (it is my favorite album from her), it has some of my fav lyrics (and some of her best lyrics too), melodies and production she has ever done, I think it is timeless and has a lot of depth that really has not been present in her recent work. As for the Monster Ball, well that is my favorite tour of hers, I love the setlist, costumes and her vocals and the Teeth performance alone clears some of her other tours (and brought me back to being a fan after I saw it after spending some time away from the Gaga fandom). Everytime I see a 2008/2009 performance, I’m in absolutely awe. The “worst” overall has to be The Fame Monster. Well, not the tour, but 95% of the promo performances etc. but that was a weird time wasn’t it? It was her absolutely peak in cultural impact but looking back it feels like she was sick almost every single day? And I’m not even talking about her endless schedule, but she also had an endless cold, didn’t she? Nearly every TV performance of Telephone or Alejandro, she sounded sick as phuck. And Good Morning America were she sang Teeth and Yoü And I, she still managed to sound really great but you could tell her throat wanted to die omg For the first point I agree, I love her TF era performances a lot and BTW is my fav era from her vocally and in that era her vocals really shined a lot. For the second point I agree somewhat, she did seem a bit off I would say around the time of The Monster Ball 1.0 and when she did the Jingle Bell Ball but a lot of the performances from that era I think are great and are some of my favs ever like Speechless at Vevo, Speechless on Royal Variety, Telephone and Dance In the Dark at the BRIT awards, Bad Romance on X factor and the Today show GMA performance set. I did notice that she did seem sick a lot around that time though like you said like on Jonathan Ross and the Today show, she still did great though.
