Better Popstar: Pink vs Miley

Miley‘s popstar career literally burgeoned from Disney‘s Hannah Montana … at some point it gets to the practical paradigmatic reality of “You don‘t sign up for what you‘re born into …”

 

An interesting follow-up consideration from said context (and I don‘t know why, but, then again, when do I ever ) might be … Better Popstar: Beyonce or Britney

She hasn't covered Heart of Glass, but has covered Whats Up, Bohemian Rhapsody (a far more technically challenging song), Crazy, Hopelessly Devoted, Time after Time, Welcome to the Jungle, Make You Feel My Love, Barracuda, Smells Like Teen Spirit, regularly did a Janis Joplin covers medley, Redemption Song, River, Roxanne, Fire & Rain, Killing Me Softly, Basket Case, White Rabbit, Free Falling, We Are the Champions, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and so on. 
So like not sure what the Heart of Glass cover is a criteria for? 
 

Does she have a Wrecking Ball? Absolutely, hell emotionally vulnerable adult contemporary pop ballads have been some of her biggest and most enduring hits. 

Does she have "pop perfection" - well many would argue she does. But that's a totally subjective take so I'm not going to debate it.

 Honestly, I think it's just clear that you don't know P!nk well. 

To say that most of P!nk's music is unserious is wildly off the mark. The album also includes a song about the impact of her father's vietnam service on their lives. 
Try This has songs about relapsing on drugs. 
I'm Not Dead has songs about her friends OD'ing, being a teenage runaway, comforting her childhood trauma, criticising the Iraq War and a song about being SA'd. 
Funhouse has songs about struggling with sobreity and suicide. 

She has just as much seriousness within her discography as Miley does in her adult discography, and went through the same lashing out/acting out **** that Miley did when she first got out of the Disney world. 

And both wanted to be on stage & perform with the greats. And both regularly do. And both are highly respected by those greats you cite.

I love Miley, but Bangerz is not that good. It’s one of those totally mid pieces of work that people see in the mirror as great because they were 14 when it came out and Miley was in her over the top era.  As someone who is well older than her the album holds very little replay value for me.

IMHO her last few albums are by far her best work and hopefully she’ll continue to grow with this album (haven’t listened to single yet-busy). Too bad she hates Plastic Hearts because of Watt because it’s a really good album.

See, I’d argue I don’t think Miley has a single song that touches even something like Glitter in the Air and I’m not even a big Pink fan. Neither artist has a stellar catalogue, but I’d say Miley’s is certainly the more lukewarm of the two.

I think you’re right. It’s just it’s telling how irrelevant Pink has become in the last 10 years - I don’t even think of her as A-star anymore. 

Some of her contemporaries do much better - Beyonce, Shakira, hell even J.Lo has a more real presence

Yeah, P!nk's tanked her status as a front of the pack pop girl by just really phoning in the last 2 albums. Hell, the Trustfall album was the first album where she didnt have a writing credit on the majority of tracks for the first time since 2000. 

That being said. The J.Lo comparison is silly. J.Lo had to cancel an arena tour after her last album flopped.

P!nk's last album made little to no noise and she was able to do a multi-year sold out global stadium tour.

She's firmly a legacy artist. But is probably the most successful and in demand legacy artist atm.

Miley is better at reinventing (Can’t Be Tamed, Bangerz, Younger Now, Plastic Hearts, SB etc.) and has grown a lot musically so I’d actually say her tbh. I haven’t cared for Pink’s last few records, they’re too soccer Mom Pop for me! 
 

Pink is by far the better performer though. No one does the silk thing she does!
