Sam Smith's Hazel Eyes debuts with 3,500 copies on Album Sales Chart

Hazel Eyes debuts on only one Billboard chart this week. Smith's latest studio effort opens at No. 30 on the Top Album Sales ranking. Luminate reports that Hazel Eyes sold 3,500 copies during its first tracking period. That figure includes purchases across physical formats like CD, cassette and vinyl, as well as digital downloads.

Hazel Eyes is Smith's only traditional studio LP to miss the top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart. In fact, none of their four preceding full-lengths failed to enter the top five.

Hazel Eyes misses the Billboard 200. This marks the first time in Smith's career that one of their regular studio albums has failed to reach the roster. What makes the showing especially surprising is that all four of Smith's previous traditional studio albums not only landed on the Billboard 200, but broke into the top 10.

Wait no so like.. Reaching #30 on a the top album sales ranking = failure? Also it makes it seem like that’s the peak.. But if just debut, wouldn’t it potentially still reach say even spot #10 & then wouldn’t all the albums  have reached top 10 on that chart? Idkk I honestly haven’t really kept up with BB chart in many years now, so just  see what gets brought up here and there on social media/news/ etc.. So if anybody who knows more about it could lmk.. I’d appreciate the insight xoxo & so like Is an album climbing the sales chart rankings just not really a thing ? I feel like a lot of albums used to peak higher than debut? Maybe I misremembering or reading tooo into what was said? (Or maybe article writer actually listened to album.. I has not.. Maybe the music just wasn’t it & they just could not get into it at all.. which ok fine, If I go get some strong prescription glasses maybe I can see that) But still idk  3,500  sales from a technically A-list celebrity’s debut..? 

 

 

Well now that I’m here getting curious about the music itself.. Not quite enough to just go listen to it rn.. But if there anyone here who has actually listened.. Thots??
 

 ( && fr 3,500 split between the different forms of media just seems.. low?) Didn’t read like that includes streams —> sales conversion? Tbh rlly no idea how bb charts even runs anymore, if they still do or don’t convert streams? Maybe it even a per chart thing?

More like a community problem since we should be supporting queer artists.

Nope. I was just replying on the comment about antitrans hate sentiment and clarifying that it’s not that and more on lack of support (especially from our community). But of course im not imposing anything.

Honestly, we absolutely should support queer artists.

Doesn't mean we should support subpar art though lol
