NewUsername 11,804
Ooh, so the lyric is "New fit is a monster"? I thought it was "Fame is a monster" and that it was a clear reference to The Fame Monster. Too bad

She's the jack of all trades master of none, she jumps from sound to sound but she is never on the forefront unlike Britney who actually has her footprint in pop music. There is a sound that you associate with Britney and there was an era when music labels tried to make their own versions of Britney, unlike Miley who once again in her *blank* era. We saw hip-hop Miley, country Miley, rock Miley, disco Miley and now this dance pop diva Miley but it's always "it sounds like someone else" with her and never "she brought something fresh, new or unique into the genre she jumped in". This also shows a lack of authenticity. You thought Bangers Miley was the real Miley – no, turns out just a few years later she said she doesn't listen to hip-hop because all hip-hop songs are apparently about materialistic things and sex. You thought PH Miley was the real Miley – turns out she hates a half of the album. And when you don’t have a clear sense of who the artist really is and what makes them unique and authentic you start to think is she really that interesting of an artist or she just records whatever her label sends to her when it’s time to make another album. Why is it ok for Madonna to jump from style to style but not Miley? She's definately a musician. She explores. She has the talent. She reinvents herself. Try knowing who you are when you had to build yourself in front of the public as a child star. Britney didn't have to do it. The indusdry decided she was going to be the over-sexualized half-minor. And they milked her the way we know it.

Zedd 6,513
When she sings this: Spin it for a minute, make it all disappear If we ain't moving, baby, baby, why are we here? It reminds me of this Hallelujah part: Ariel has got her prince and now they're both drinking beer Living life above the water, no octopus to fear The ARTPOP Zedd

I think you missed the point made about how MIley jumps from style to style by slagging off her previous style. Whereas Madonna, minus the occasional song she hates (material girl) has always stood by her reinventions and previous works. And on the Madonna comparison, and this goes for any artist who experiments, she always used touring and performance during each era to tie in older music into the current world she was exploring and the vision she was sharing. E.g. the disco mixes of Like a Virgin/Lucky Star/Erotica on the Confessions tour Miley being anti-touring (which I fully support her reasonings for) makes the style jumps more jarring, because not only does she often spend a new era's promo cycle saying how much she disliked the previous one but she then also doesn't have a vehicle to blend in her older material with her current material and create the cohesion. I basically have the same issue with Miley, fwiw. I think she’s very talented, but ultimately a fairly boring artist because I don’t think she has an especially strong creative sensibility, artistic voice, or much to say as a musician and her music rarely moves and/or excites me. Lovely voice, lovely gowns. Edited 14 hours ago by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS
