JoeCool 1,056
IMO, it was all right. Not my favorite era if you will but that is just me. This though felt like the time or one of the times she was must well loved by the general public. But ironically it sounded like she was severely stressed and miserable? If I have it correct that's when Michael was able to re-juvinate her if you will.
dynamite 67,293
Idk how to vote, the option is about a film and a song at the same time Like a poem said by a neydy in red
Flippy 14,495
Loved everything about that era. It was beautiful to see tbh TMBT 3.22.11 // TBTWB 1.17.13 // ArtRAVE 6.3.14 // C2CT 5.28.15 // TJWT 8.13.17 // CWT 9.8.22 // TMB 7.22.25 & 7.24.25
Economy 53,006
I liked the movie more than the song so i rated a 4. Id give the movie a 4.2 but Shallow like a 3.8. Its a solid song but tbh no where near among my fav As controversial as it may be, I actually like DWAS more as far as her smash hits go. As far as the album goes, I like INLA, Is That Alright and ARUTW more than Shallow I think i never got used to the unusual structure. Song is fine, i dint dislike it, but I dont love it either Edited 7 hours ago by Economy
shape of a rvfzme 1,894
To be honest, it's a 4, but I liked HoG more in role of Patrizia - 4.

ALonelyNight 684
I have the soundtrack at 2.5/5 on my RateYourMusic account
KennyRichie 2,115
The movie not so much but the whole soundtrack is spectacular , ARUTW became an instant favorite for me
Anderson123 42,798
I watched the movie 3 times in theaters and I give it a 4.5 only because the pacing can get slow after the second half. The first half starts really good with the scenes and the music, then it feels like some stuff happens very fast, then it gets slow etc. I give Shallow a 4, it's a spectacular song and the soundtrack is a 4.5. One of my least favorite Gaga songs ever is "Why Did You Do That?" and maybe Before I Cry but other than that it was a fun listen for months, I listened to the soundtrack more than Joanne. Bradley 60,352
Many things from A Star Is Born are 5 out of 5. I would even say some of the material and performance there were Bad Romance, Abracadabra-tier level.
SevenWonder 4,766
My opinion is that the movie and Shallow saved her A-list career. It propelled her to the apex of pop culture (in a good way) for the first time since BTW. It made people forgot the underperformance of ARTPOP and Joanne. Non Little Monsters realized how talented she was and the era introduced her to a whole new range of fans. Moms and aunties and even some straight bros couldn't deny her gifts. Also, there was almost zero backlash. It was mostly all positive vibes. I also think the movie was (and is) just really entertaining and Shallow is simply a classic (even if I think ARUTW is the S tier song from the album). But it's something learning how miserable/stressed and what not Gaga was at the time
bxr 2,585
Good question; given what we know now though, to your point, I don‘t feel the movie nor song were worth the lithium. I‘d be more interested to see what her comeback would have looked like if she were able to take time off to genuinely heal, and not have to work through a psychotic break. I have faith that she would have earned an Oscar with or without Shallow / ASIB … but/and again, as always, I’m new here, and it‘s all hindsight now
River 128,205
ASIB - 2 at least you tried Shallow is 3.5, only because of the slow beginning Shallow is like this boring sex partner, that takes the lead but nothing is really happening, so u like bored and looking at the void.. until u decide to take things into your hand and you reach the climax.. like in shallow.. the best part is Gaga's part, but until u reach it, u need to snooze with what his name. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
