Working Royals doesnt seem like two words that match.

Reported for discrimination and classism. Ribbon cutting is serious business.

A lot of that sympathy evaporated when people realised that said 'ordinary, private life' involved Netflix cooking shows, celebrity tell-all memoirs and podcasts.

I don't get why though? I feel like it was always about escaping the institution of the Royal Family and his dysfunctional family. Let him earn that coin if he wants to

People might respect that if, and this is going to sound quite harsh, anything they'd done had done well, or exhibited some kind of talent. Selling low-quality candles, launching poorly-reviewed cookery shows and publishing ghostwritten memoirs doesn't make it look like you're trying to live a more normal life or launch a business you're passionate about. It looks like you're grifting.

On top of that, they've continued to use the Sussex brand. To a lot of people here, it feels like they're continuing to use the fact that they're royals to promote themselves whilst not doing anything for the British state or people. I know a lot of people think the royal family are parasites and whatnot, but there is a pretty strong expectation here that if you benefit from the fact that you're a royal, you give back in some way through charity work, activism or attending public events.

Fair enough I guess. He gets a pass from me because of what his family put him through, and I have a hunch that William is EVIL behind the scenes. Honestly I identify with his resentments lol

They removed themselves from involvement in the royal family because Megan was experiencing racism from WITHIN his own family.

I've never had anything against them as people, I just think that when you're a public figure, you should expect people to judge your public activities. I think it's a shame, because they've both done great work. The Invictus Games are a huge accomplishment for example.

To be fair they never had a problem with criticism about their activities it was down to the public having a systemic racist view of her and even racism from within the royal family.

It's hard for anyone to deny that she experienced some pretty serious hostility and racism. I was moreso just explaining why I personally am so critical of their post-2020 activities.

I mean once you’re a celebrity or a public figure you can never truly be private ever again. Anybody who expected them to randomly have regular jobs when they had no financial support from the royal family anymore despite them living in a private expensive place is crazy. Plus Megan was a celebrity and actress beforehand.

Still, I think there's a big difference between 'they have to make money somehow' and the full Kardashian-esque range of flash-in-the-pan businesses.

May I ask then what else you think they should do? I’m not like being rude just genuinely curious.

Because they couldn’t do regular jobs and Megan couldn’t go back to acting since both would leave Megan specifically open to racist abuse, hate crimes and at worst attempts of violence and beyond on her. They also couldn’t just live off nothing because they had no financial support from the Royal Family anymore and because of their status in the world they need security round the clock.

I mean more than anything, simply pick a lane and stick with it. It's not what they do that winds some people up, it's the fact that they seem to have tried quite literally everything, often delivering a pretty poor product at a premium price before moving on to the next attempt.

I get that, but id still wager the majority of the hate they receive now is mostly directed at Megan and is based on racism.

I’m not a royalist by any means, in fact I’m anti-establishment, but id consider Harry and Megan the “good” royals. Because they spoke their minds, called out negative things and refused to just smile and be nice and go along with everything.

I genuinely see no evidence whatsoever that makes them bad people or even annoying really. They called out the racism against Megan and that’s literally it. Probably the least problematic thing any royal has done atp.

Morphine Prince

I will never understand why the British public hates them.

They’re the most normal ones :rip:

I haven’t seen as much hysteria over Prince Andrew….
