Burnham is really coming through with a lot of his actions/policies. Curious to see how this plays out. I think if he carries on the way he's started he might be able to pull it back for Labour.

Some of his stuff is being received well but a lot of people still have a problem with his focus on the north of England and there’s still the massive issue of immigration in general. And people often conflate Labour with being left wing when there’s many right wing Labour voters who share some values to Reform voters.

He's building a really strong platform to launch an early election from and win a mandate for the big long term goals he is eyeing up on social care and infrastructure.

I have faith his idea to devolve to local government can be a real game changer, I just hope it doesn’t go to the extent of how America literally has different laws per state. Like imagine travelling from constituency to constituency and having different laws.

I know we’re much smaller than even like ONE American state in total, but I think some people genuinely want that.

If he wants to be a success and change things effectively he needs to be mindful that unfortunately as PM, you’ll never please everyone. If he focuses on a select number of key issues, sees them through and delivers, that will go down a lot better than being blinkered by everything and haphazardly governing. His initial focuses are in the right areas but he will need to tackle some contentious policy areas, I am however excited to see what he will do. As a northerner, I’m proud to see one of our own finally back in the top job, the first since Harold Wilson. I hope he does it justice and moves us in a better direction as a country because we bloody well need progress.
