Saying you have a narrow view of pop isn’t an insult and you were pretty objectively crashing out by responding to a fairly tame commentary on genre with “Baby, I don’t need a music lesson” etc etc. And yeah, responding to an (accurate) observation about your perception of the pop format with an unrelated attempted dig at my knowledge of music is definitely rude.
