I hate to say it’s Joanne because it’s not because of the acoustic/country/rock sound or the simplicity of how Gaga looks in the era (which I assume these are the main reasons why people don’t like it) but the wasted potential of it

As much as I love Perfect Illusion they should go for it with the experimental/Kevin Parker sound

Also why don’t we have another Kevin Parker/Tame Impala collab throughout the album?

FJM could’ve been featured on Come to Mama

Getting Beck in the studio just to produce DIC was a mistake, where’s the Beck collab?

Just Another Day is cute and I’m not a fan of Grigio Girls but we deserved a few more tracks on the deluxe since the standard version was so short

Chromatica is a masterpiece and you think it's bad just because it didn't get promoted during the covid.

Literally has three music videos, one of which featured Ariana (biggest pop star at that time) + great VMA performance + Oreo cookies! :usrs:

You get me.

Joanne isn't bad, but it wastes so much of its potential given who was involved.

That album has the most filler.

No LITERALLY like I understand that it was the gateway into one of the most iconic careers in pop music history but listen to her early works and everything that came after and ask yourself WHY WERE THEY FORCING HER TO MAKE R&B MUSIC like really? She wanted to make a disco record a la Dirty Ice Cream, Disco Heaven, Retro Dance Freak and Boys Boys Boys. And somehow Flo Rida got involved? WHY DID SUMMERBOY AND EH EH MAKE THE TRACKLIST they sound SO out of place

I have many more feelings but The Fame specifically, needed to be edited down into like 10 tracks

The Fame. Not because I think it's bad but it's so dated and of its time. It was a good starting point but her abilities have gone above and beyond what she showed here. Thought it was the best album at the time, but 18 years later, she's moved on, music has moved on.

The results were predictable. I second that Chromatica is my second least favourite but surprised it was that high up, to be honest. And of course you keep Joanne at the bottom of the heap. If it weren't for that album, we wouldn't have had what came after it as this was part of a major turnaround for her and she needed to do it to get where we are now.

Mayhem also is wildly all over the place genre wise . How did HBDYWM and Killah and abracadabra and perfect celebrity and zombieboy all end up on the same album ?

also summerboy would fit in perfectly with Dirty ice cream, disco heaven, boys boys boys, RDF, she performed all those at her first lalapoloza (except RDF cause that would be a live snoozefest lbh) but all those songs for her desired retro disco album were created before/while she was with def jam and then by the time she got to interscope she was headed down the boys boys boys redone commercial mainstream sound so she could be a POP star instead of an underground indie/alternative artist she would’ve been

ALSO asking how did summerboy and eh eh end up on the fame is like asking how did teeth and speechless end up on TFM

if summerboy and eh eh are out of place on the fame, then so is the fame, beautiful dirty rich, and brown eyes

For me it’s ARTPOP, but I think it’s because I became a fan during the ASIB era. It has more tracks I listen to frequently than Joanne and Chromatica, but I don’t have the same attachment to it. Joanne feels like most of the non-Gaga music I listen to and Chromatica was my first release/era as a fan.
