Is it too late to re-release Do What You Want (Gaga's version)

Do What You Want was a brilliant track from her catalogue that was forever removed from all streaming services and ARTPOP album all because the featuring artist.

DWYW was already a moderate hit with 120M streams on Spotify prior to removal. Since then her catalogue has gained tremendous streams on Spotify and DWYU could've helped carry ARTPOP streams instead of depending on Applause alone.

I've listened to the already existing solo demo version of the song but I find the second verse quite bland and flat. Do you think it's too late for her to re-record the solo version of the song, especially the second verse, so much that she can exclude R. K*lly from the credits? Taylor is re-recording her entire catalogue so will it be problematic if Gaga re-record DWYW solo version?

NUTELLA

It’s a good song solo, but it benefits from the tension of a male vocalist alongside her imo

(The Xtina version is garbage)

At the end of the day though, I think she sends a powerful message by “deleting” the song altogether the way she has & leaving it behind entirely

Fvck him in perpetuity 🖕🏻

I hate to say it but R. Kelly really elevated the song with his feature. I love the solo but it feels like something is missing, and that is a feature to switch things up.

It is a shame that the song got destroyed entirely.

But I think its too late to go back and honestly, I think going back would draw negative attention unless she replaced him with a survivor like Kesha to really flip the situation.

I feel like the only way she can revisit the song is *opens a can of worms* if she fully does an ARTPOP 20 anniversary album or something for her fans and sneaks in a solo or remix version that features  new vocalist of DWUW.

I'd love that because it's such a phenomenal track and one of my favorites in Gaga's discography, and it's also such a shame what happened to it, however I think that the best thing to do right now is just leave it the way that it is and do not try to "revive it"

I know, hurts, but I think that's for the best :traumatica:

I think I’m in the minority when I say Gaga’s solo version absolutely bodies any official released version. The solo version makes the song so much more vulnerable and sincere.

That being said, I wouldn’t want her to revisit that song in particular, but I would love for her to sing about the toll performing takes on her body/mind/soul. I feel like we’ve seen glimpses in some songs post-ARTPOP, but I’d love for her to really delve deep into the topic and bear it all in a new track.

It's one of her best songs but it's one of those that she doesn't really care about it anymore to be honest. I feel like she's more attached to The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way and could easily go on without going back to this one, especially because ARTPOP doesn't really get that much attention from her anymore, same with Chromatica and maybe Joanne.

Mayhem is the one album I feel like she's been the most passionate to make since Born This Way and looking back at the last 3 she made (ARTPOP, Joanne, Chromatica), I feel like she doesn't have that strong connection to them anymore for there to be a special edition or revisit old demos.

So as much as I love Do What U Want and want her to add the solo version to a new ARTPOP vinyl or streaming, I feel like she doesn't see it as a Bad Romance, Poker Face, Shallow, Edge of Glory, Judas type of song that would feel like losing a part of her body to even care about it anymore.

I hate R.Kelly for obvious reasons but he nailed his part let's be real.

OT : she moved on from ARTPOP era and that song. There won't be any type of re-release or things like that tied to ARTPOP past material

Maybe its not too late..

a situation where she samples her own song on a future release . Idk what's the correct  term :ally:

Something like Earthquake/ FOHL ?

Or a live album of her hits and DWUW Features  The Weeknd ? But different lyrics and subject?

There is a special place in hell for the person that suggested adding R Kelly on it :nails:

TheFame Monster

I thought the song was good and the R.Kelly version was the superior one when the songs came out. But as a survivor of SA, it makes me really uncomfortable to listen to it now. If he still has writing credits on any version of the song, I don't really want to support that

I can only imagine an release along side an ARTPOP anniversary release, which is so many years into the future.
