Funny you say this - I'm in NYC and my portable AC stopped running yesterday when the heat index was over 100/38, and I was about to cry because it didn't come with the apartment so I wasn't sure if it could even be fixed for free by management. Thankfully as it turned out, the wall socket had died, and there happened to be another one within reach of the cord
