IG this is simply what happens, artists usually become slowly de-fanged over time

Gaga has her biggest hit, her biggest tour of her career and her most critically acclaimed album all with mayhem era. She is the opposite of “de-fanged over time” but i guess ageism and misogyny isn’t something that is discussed in the gaga community… if yall tried and noticed gaga started getting heavily criticised by her fandom full of gay men around joanne era which was when she turned 30 years old and it only gotten worse from there. This person is one clear example.

Also side note I am still kind of mad she has not rebuked the Zionist allegations (I don’t think she is) but how hard is it for her to say Free Palestine and **** ICE? And why is the excuse always “it doesn’t matter if she does or not”. I was under the assumption Lady Gaga was a bold person who said things because they were right, not because they were popular.

Not to be devil’s advocate but she’s no longer chronically online which is where all the accusations of her being a Zionist come from.

Unless someone outrightly says it to her in an interview or to her face recorded in the street she’s not gonna have a stance.

Also there’s a strong possibility she doesn’t want to seem antisemitic to some people, since her fiancé and his family are Jewish so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think they’re zionists tbh.

?????????????????????

For the record, I love harlequin, and find it to be a far better album than Mayhem. My gripes with Gaga are not tied to her age, f*ck off with that.

Hey Ariana, what's MJ? https://youtu.be/xF-XLOYVrUw?si=T9TAr6-HLD_ZWmUy

You literally said she “de-fanged over time” which suggests she expired with time as she got older that’s peak ageism and also you trying to hate on mayhem by spitting out bs about the name and aesthetic ( because in reality there’s nothing to hate about the album) etc when it’s her most critically acclaimed album is another prove

When Brandy says “de-fanged over time,” she means Gaga’s not as daring or groundbreaking as she once was, not that she’s not as commercially successful. And in some ways, I don’t think that’s totally wrong, but I also think her approach is more streamlined and fleshed out now so when she makes an artistic or aesthetic statement, I think it’s generally more realized than the often “everything and the kitchen sink” approach she had early on.

Sis.

I feel you have misread the vibe.

De-fanged doesn't mean expired in literally any translation. It means that Gaga is less controversial or boundary pushing.

And the reality is that performance/activism wise, Gaga is absolutely less controversial/boundary pushing these days.

I think so. The thing is she is just not as hungry as she was in her early career, she's become a bit more corporate over the past few years.

I totally did not.

and her not being as “controversial” as before is because everything she did back then became normal nowdays. I’m tired of gaga getting this much criticism from her fans and them not understanding where she comes from so all this criticism falls under ageism for me because you won’t ever see a Beyonce stan saying this about her even when she doesn’t even do performances or mvs like she used to anymore she just drop her music and her fans will see her through her vision meanwhile Lms do the exact opposite thing with gaga lol

Because it's not a smart thing to do. It's not a big story but shining a light on it through her huge platform to address it would actually make GP aware that this narrative exists. That’s what big celebs like Gaga and Beyonce do, they pay things like that dust, never address them directly in public and wait for them to die out. She won't address it publicly just like won’t address any other negative story or rumor about her.

See yall? The constant compartion with her 20 years old self is so ageist and the thought of her becoming “corporate “ when she just grow up😭 like call me woke idc but that’s literally it and it’s so common amongst gaga community because it doesn’t get called out enough

Ive seen countless beyonce fans complain about this.

I mean, she fundamentally is less controversial.

This is a woman who wore a dress made of raw meat and stood on stage in Russia protesting state oppression at risk to herself.

These days, she rarely talks on political issues and her fashion style while avant-garde is no longer risk-taking.

This has been her most successful solo album era in over a decade, and one of her most positively recieved eras ever. The vast majority of users on this site and in other fan groups love the era.

You literally did because you misunderstood a very basic and common english language term.

I kinda want some of y'all to define what "experimental" is :gum: or provide examples.

'Cause I've never thought of Gaga as someone who reinvents the wheel with her music, just an artist that does what she does better than anyone else conceivably could.

If she came up in here with some drunk Bjork sounding stuff idk how I'd feel :icant:

exactly that, exactly that but people here would quote ARTPOP as experimental when really, it's just EDM with a pop commercial structure

if she had put a 10 minute long electronic sound scape on there then i'd get it

mother, what must i do?

tbh why would she be? she needed to work hard then to become famous, now she is famous

she still works hard and creates what she wants but she's now protecting her wealth in ways that feel more corporate than before

she was definitely just as corporate back then; look at how many products are in her videos and the amount of commercials she used to do

mother, what must i do?

I never seen any Beyonce stan do this actually. They have a genuine appreciation of her and her art. Meanwhile yall have a whole site mainly for this parasocial/ toxic behaviour.

like i don’t understand do you want her to wear meat dress everyday? Do you want her to go to Russia and say arrest me every day for you to say she’s still “risk taking “😭?

her 2025 grammy speech about trans rights was more than what most artists have done in their careers and that should be enough.

she is 40 years old woman she wants to have kids and make the music she loves.. yall coming here crying about meat dress etc is literally silly and it became weird within years because at some point yall said she isn’t “the same gaga” anymore and believed she is completely “over” but she dropped abracadabra and everyone was “ohhh the old gaga is back🥹” and now yall back again at this tired recycled loop.

Sis, the only one who's being parasocial and toxic here is you railroading anyone who dares to utter anything other than arse-kissing praise to Gaga.

She set herself a standard, she built a career and fan following on the basis of that standard. For those of us who care about the causes she spoke about and took risks in her activism for, it is totally normal to discuss our feelings to her declining public activism and increased silence on the issues. Those issues haven't gone away, they've only got worse.
