gagzus 23,219 Posted yesterday at 12:54 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:54 PM For me I listen to Disease and PI more. I think a lot of Bad Romance’s love stems from the original reason it has a good reputation anyway; the fact in 2014 Billboard named it the best song the 2000s and we have sort of clung to that. But musically, vocally, conceptually, lyrically id say Disease clears BR. And I personally prefer Perfect Illusion more. Disease > PI > BR > Applause > BTW > SL > JD
alexcal24 101 Posted yesterday at 01:03 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:03 PM I'll die alone on Stupid Love's throne, but I'll always love that song yes over Bad Romance too because it's sweet, dancey, pink and singalongy 😍

nkta 661 Posted yesterday at 04:14 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:14 PM Why is it Disease on the list and not Die With a Smile?! Technically, DWAS is a lead single from Mayhem

Disease > PI > BR > Applause > BTW > SL > JD I mean, that’s 5 years after its release, so even if a handful of people for some reason allow their musical tastes to be dictated to them by billboard, that article can’t have retroactively propelled it to the top (or near) of almost every music market in the fall of 2009, made its MV go as viral as things could go at that time, win 2 Grammys, etc. It was a song unlike anything else trending in pop at the time, and the first time Gaga’s music approached the reputation she’d built as something “more.” It’s quintessential Gaga - maximalist, hooks galore, gibberish, film and fashion references, bombastic chorus - and bridged together her 2 most iconic eras and albums. You’re free to prefer Disease; I certainly listen to it more often than Bad Romance, but other than maybe “vocally,” I’m not sure how you could say it “clears” it in any category. Conceptually and lyrically, it’s like comparing a novel or screenplay to a poem or short story… I can’t name any other massive top 40 hit comparing a relationship to horror films with the titles weaved into the words of the verses, leading to a bridge with a mix of a spoken word, French, wailing, and more… whereas “curing” a flawed lover is definitely in the top 10 or so most common themes.

Technically, DWAS is a lead single from Mayhem Because she doesn’t consider it the lead single, and it wasn’t released as such. Plenty of artists add songs to their albums that were released before the official era began, or release “buzz singles,” etc.
JohnPokerface 812
Bad Romance obviously but Just Dance was the song that put her on the map and it got that hit energy I feel like it would've been a hit no matter who released it in that sense it's a perfect lead single 2

Technically, DWAS is a lead single from Mayhem It was the first single, not the lead single. Lead singles are typically tied to promotional campaigns for the album. DWAS wasn't until November/December. The gays know how to party 1
