Kavinsky found dead

The way I knew what the reaction to this would be here and on Twitter :awkney: I mean, it's shocking but I'm sure the first thing that came to our minds are the comments most shared here about in which song Gaga interpolated Kavinsky's song and the kinda terrible coincidences that led people to start using the Gaga voodoo saying. I guess commenting on these coincidences is innevitable, at some point someone would've brought it up but really, life is so weird... he was only 50 :wtfga:

RIP to him... Tbh, before Requiem I didn't know about him or his music and just recently started listening to him, he was pretty cool :air:

R.I.P.

I hope his death has nothing to do with Little Monsters harrasing him or else we as a community of a kind and loving artist that gaga is, have failed...

I totally stood beside him, when he criticized Gaga for being inspired by Nightcall and not crediting him.

I'm sure her team f-ed it up, as the credit only came later...

For me the sampling is very obvious, but besides that, if smaller Artists work gets used by bigger Artists, just as Beyoncé or others did in the past, just credit them. And don't attack the smaller Artists for calling out.

Some claims are a reach, but Gaga herself has made clear, there was a uncanny similarity and inspiration.

I stand 100% with you, but it wasn’t a sample of the original master. It was a live reinterpretation performed with live instruments, which is generally treated differently from using a sample. Once the performance was released commercially, however, additional rights and credits became relevant. I’m sure Gaga addressed it as soon as she became aware of the issue, and I think it was a thoughtful way to handle the situation.

Rest in power, King 🙏

Been trying to put together how I feel about this whole thing as a fan of both Gaga and Kavinsky. And I just think - make your jokes, okay, but consider that when you talk about voodoo and karma and the idea that Gaga would want this in any way - this guy was a huge inspiration to her. I imagine she’d have loved to work with him in the future and she’s probably very upset, as are all those that loved his work. LMs made a massive deal out of something quite minor, which didn’t seem to bother her much at all and was resolved quickly.

In any case, this is a devastating loss for music. I can only hope he passed as peacefully as possible and that those he has inspired continue to take that inspiration forward.

I'm really glad his music got a resurgence from her spot lighting him, the Gaga bump to his name and legacy had to have resonated once they worked the credits out. Rest in Peace Kavinsky

Yes!

She borrowed his music and seeing how she admited she was delegating the business part of her career + how she has no issue officially crediting the artists she borrows from... I agree, it must be her team that's to blame for late paperwork. He got what he deserved lately but too bad he had to blast it publicly first. :littlepotter:

Monsters were after this guy for pointing out the obvious "harnessing" Gaga talked about that everybody outside of our fanbase was able to hear lol.

Too bad the end of his life was marked with harassment from this fanbase having the nerve to call him a thief or that he should be grateful such a star even acknowledge his music... Gaga was clearly more respectful of him than many here smh...

Oh my god?? Maybe Gaga's inspirational figures shouldn't talk sh.it about her when she's been nothing been complimentary and loving towards them. I joke I joke. This is awful. But how ironic that his sample in her performance, that he didn't approve of, was probably the last performance of his music

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

He seemed happy about it actually, just bothered by the fact it wasn't done correctly at first.
