I guess it is one of those things that comes down to are you a "music and melody" or "lyrics" first sort of person. I'm the former, which is why I love Dance, Rock, Electronic, Jazz and Classical. Country and Hip Hop I think excel more with lyrics so that's probably why I don't immediately and fully gel with it but I have enormous respect for it and do enjoy it from time to time. Luckily, some of it has started to come back with the girls like Carrie Underwood (with her Storyteller album and onwards specifically), Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Maddie + Tae. And when I heard that song, Wagon Wheel at a wedding last year, I couldn't stop writing my own lines to it as so much more stuff could rhyme.
