Here's my issue with MAYHEM's lyrics, there is for example a huge difference between how the word "monster" is used in the song of the same name, compared to how it is used in "Kill For Love."

One has weight and symbolism, the other is void of any substance to me.

She's throwing around the words werewolf, zombie, ghost etc. in a "Monster Mash" way, and not in a "dark poetry" way.

Yeah, a lot of MAYHEM honestly gives teenager who is into witches, werewolves, vampires etc, and a lot of the lyrics are very shallow. Her songs have always been more interesting when they had double meanings and when she was exploring themes deeper. I appreciate that she's doing better and wants to make more fun songs, but that also makes them more straightforward and less interesting. There are a few exceptions (and of course these are the songs that the MAYHEM lovers don't like ).
