Absolutely and the difference from her and Victoria is that her character was very loved by the people and differentiated her from the real person, poor Vicky she had a plain character and on top of that her music was basically an extension of Victorious no wonder why people was uninterested :messga:

I knew Ariana’s music because of Problem too, that’s literally her global debut, at the time I didn’t even know she had a previous album already released :huntyga:

Who is Victoria?? I don’t really know these Disney stars. :ororomunroe:

STAR POWER

but yea I agree w first comment. back then tv fanbase was like Kpop fanbase know... a small group of very dedicated fans. so even if ur debut didn't do well, those fans don't rlly drop u quickly and look for the next thing. even if they do, as soon as u do a rebrand (which is what she did), they will be back on the train. plus w the next era doing so well, she gained more public recognition which is always better to have both like casuals + Stans = star. its good she did her rebrand early on. but Ik Sabrina did hers later and still somehow made it but im guessing Disney wasn't as big as a brand when she was coming out, so the tv fans didn't benefit her as much so she gained a lot of new fans from the TikTok era instead.

Girl you need to read better I didn’t call her a flop, I said her debut seemed to go creatively to a disaster with its cover and first single/MV she corrected that trajectory miraculously, with a better album cover and better picked singles as you showed they did good

I think the OP needed to just be worded better, but I get what you're saying now. Put Your Hearts Up flopped, but that was more an "introductory" single than a lead for an album. She was working on an album through 2012 for a 2013 release date, but it was actually Ariana herself who wanted it to be changed. She didn't like the direction she was being pushed in, so she changed it to music she grew up with which was R&B. She got a top 10, a notable top 40, and the album debuted at number one. The change still worked even though it was high risk to do R&B like this at the time. I've heard some fans say that she lost some creative control with her next album though, which may have been due to Yours Truly not performing quite as up to par as hoped.

i know this is not arianadaily and there are a few threads of Ariana right now but just now im tying all the dots

her debut album had a terrible cheeky cover, a bunch of Mariah Carey samples and a terrible first single and MV planned, she had everything to be buried in pop's flops

yours-truly.jpg

honestly props to her team/management for correcting all that, imagine what could have happened if she released all those terrible ideas, would she still go on with her career, also i guess it doesn't matter much since she went really mainstream with her 2nd album and with Problem but she couldn't even got to the sophomore albunm if the first was a flop

I speak for myself but ik a lot of people had the same but honestly only after her 2nd album when they pushed her singles and different image, it took a second for me to actually see enough of her to be like "oh wtf thats cat from victorious" :air:

they did the good job of targeting audiences that grew up as she did and her sound did   her debut is almost as relevant as Sabrina Carpenters :enigma:
