I mean hey I'm gonna be the quote guy but I don't know how much more explicit you can be than songs like Vogue and especially In This Life, a song literally written about the AIDS crisis in the middle of the AIDS crisis

Gaga's done plenty to be referred to as THE queer icon and she did so while being a genuinely kind and thoughtful person from day one.

I don't know man I think I'm perfectly happy to accept someone with a bit of an attitude when they were publicly taking on the Regan administration to save the lives of a community that they were all too happy to ignore.

Or someone proud to show the day to day life of gay men (especially gay men of color) in a massive wide released documentary film.

Or someone who performed sold out shows in massive arenas with all proceeds donated to LGBTQ+ organizations.

Or someone who sat with dying queer people in the hospital because their families refused to share their final days with them. 

I know you've got a bit of a hate boner for Madonna but it's frankly ridiculous to sit there and pretend that she hasn't done everything in her power to stand by, uplift, empower, and tribute the LGBTQ+ community. Especially when it was a lot less safe to do so. 

She's done it when it wasn't good for her career. She's done it when she was not treated well by the community in return. She's done it when there was literally no upside for her to do it. She did it because she cared, and she has always cared, and there is an entire generation of queer people that are out here today living out and authentically because she took such heavy strides to thrust queer culture into pop culture. 

Gaga's done amazing work and i'm thankful for that. But one has to also acknowledge that she could only do that amazing work because the template had been written and the groundwork had been laid already. It was not a serious danger to her to do it (which does not diminish what she did of course) and we sort of have to acknowledge why it wasn't dangerous for her to do it. 

To be such a huge fan of Michael Jackson, someone whose contributions often get undermined due to people's personal feelings, I would think you'd be an advocate for giving credit where it's due rather than letting a personal vendetta take the lead.

But if we're crowning a hypothetical queen of homosexual people I'd rather it be bestowed on someone with a tolerable personality  

I still say if she was a man y'all would have cancelled her for being a predator by now simply for her cute little anecdote about getting MJ drunk to kiss and touch him and the story of her flashing him in his house.
