Anyway, assorted bigotry aside, religious extremism and the violence it engenders is a plague and should always be called out *without exception*. Praying for everyone who was hurt and hoping that the LGBTQ+ community in Berlin stays strong in the face of these hateful attacks on their safety.

Correct, but unlike you (someone with obvious and insidious ulterior motives) most of us can categorically call out religious extremist violence without denouncing the entire group. I remember you, repeatedly, saying settler pogroms on the West Bank were “complicated” (they’re not, they’re acts of religious based ethnonationalistic terrorism), yet you gleefully label the entirety of Islam as violent. If someone had said what you’ve said about Muslims in this thread about Jews, you’d (rightfully) label them an antisemite and yet, here you are, being a bigoted hypocrite.

I didn’t label the entirety of Islam as violent. I said that, compared to Christianity (which is dying out) in 2026, it is more conservative and violent towards the LGBT community. All the countries that sentence LGBT people to death, with the exception of Uganda, are Muslim-majority. We, as members of the LGBT community, should be allowed to have these conversations. This is not ‘Islamophobia.’

But the attacker was not AfD. He’s a Muslim. No need to sugarcoat. Had he been a Christian, no one would’ve had a problem pointing that out. Not sure why so many in the LGBT community are so hesitant to criticize Islam, when they are quite literally killing us.

We aren't hesistant.

But you blame an entire religion rather than its extremists.

And the AfD regularly attack Pride attendees. With over 55 attacks reported by this time last year https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jul/26/its-time-for-us-to-be-louder-germanys-pride-parades-face-up-to-rise-in-attacks

So yeah, you can choose to highlight one singular attacker because they fit your long held biases well established on this site.

The rest of us will fight *all* the extremists.

And question why the German authorities and states continue to enable vehicular attacks despite their repeated high profile usage in recent years when every other European nation has managed to implement basic crowd protection tactics like temporary concrete road blocks on event days.

The conversation police (read: any critique of the state of Israel is “antisemitism”) claiming they’re being silenced when no one has disagreed with you that Islamic extremism is harmful is rich lmao. I never challenged the idea that there weren’t violent Islamic extremists, I merely pointed out that you do for Jewish extremists and Zionists in Israel and on the West Bank what you’re accusing others of doing re: Muslims, which is making an exception about when religiously motivated terrorism is offensive to you. I find it equally offensive when an Islamic extremist drives their car into a pride parade as I would when Zionist radicals pour gasoline on a car with a three year old child in the backseat and set it on fire. You only take issue with the former and insist the latter is “complicated.” That’s where we differ.

And yet you, for some reason, insist on giving cover to the Israeli government and settlers on the West Bank using religion to justify acts of terrorism against Palestinians and Arabs more broadly. Huh.

Not sure why you keep making everything about Israel and bringing it up all the time. I said the situation in the West Bank is complicated because I’m not that familiar with it.

Again, I’m replying about Israel because it’s one of the only things you ever post about on here (which is part of why I find it shocking that you’re pleading ignorance on the West Bank). Insinuating that I’m weird for calling out your own fixation with Israel and the hypocrisy in your own browbeating about it is wild ngl.

That being said: basically, the settlers on the West Bank are a group of religious extremists who moved onto the land to “settle it” to justify the continued presence of the IDF in the region after the Six Day War. They purposefully expand further into Palestinian villages to draw the military in further and stoke violence against Palestinian villagers to justify the use of the vigilante violence or military force against them. The IDF has become the defacto governing body of much of the West Bank and the settlers have full rights under Israeli civilian law, while Palestinians are governed by Israeli military law (meaning they have no due process, no right to an attorney etc.). It’s apartheid and it is an illegal occupation. It is mechanically complicated, but not even remotely morally complicated.

Maybe the settlers in the West Bank are religiously motivated, but as far as I know, most of Israel proper is largely secular and very LGBT-friendly.

Also, liberal Jewish Zionists are a big reason why we as members of the LGBT community have our rights here in America. They have always been at the forefront of social justice movements and have always had our backs. That’s enough for me to support them, and I refuse to throw them under the bus.

They are definitively and self-professedly religiously motivated

I don’t really see how that’s related to whether or not the Israeli government uses religious extremism to justify ethnically motivated violence against innocent Arabs.

I don’t really understand this line of thinking. You know people can be right about some things and wrong about others, yeah? Like, great, liberal Zionists support social justice movements, doesn’t make them wanting an ethnostate magically right lmao. Sounds like your thinking on this issue is incredibly black and white.

So ****ing frustrating.

And Europe is ripe for a fascist turn because of this terrorism. The situation is complicated but the average person doesn’t have the patience for complexity. They want results.

Likewise, ‘progressives’ and the pro-Palestinian movement have no problem allying with homophobes, transphobes, anti-Semites, and ultra conservative Muslim extremists just because they are pro-Palestinian. They threw everything they claimed to care about under the bus for one specific issue.

Strawman, projection, and deflection all in one post really is something else. I point to institutionally powerful figures (the Israeli government and their proxies in the US) and their stated aims + objectives, you gesture at a loose collection of terminally online activists with no institutional clout and act like they represent the entire progressive/pro-Palestinian movement. Be serious, brother.

I dont want to join the ongoing discussion. But the fact that someone, and I don’t care what religion they follow, commits an act like this is just terrible. I felt sick seeing this news, especially knowing I will go to Amsterdam pride next week… I just feel sick
