I’m excited to watch but I kinda HATE that they’re putting all the episodes out at once. I’d have preferred it be weekly like XMen 97 has done.

Paramount have basically said f*ck it to two anticipated Avatar projects now. First the f*ck over for the movie not being in cinemas and being leaked, now a mass release of the new show.

I yearn for the days of appointment viewing.

I’m totally gonna watch it but it doesn’t look like this show belongs in the avatar universe. Its animation and visuals look other-worldly. It’ll take getting used to but not as excited as I want to be

I was so excited for this, and I’ll watch it anyway, but I’m disappointed. The animation/art style is different from the OG, and I don’t like the way that it looks. I also wish the twins were older because I don’t really care to watch a show about kids. The only thing I like is the dystopian vibes. I can’t tell if I’ll hate this because it’s a flop or if it’ll flop because I hate it. Let’s see.

I'm so gagged the Avatar earth bending twins rumor from an actual decade ago is finally coming to fruition!!! but also what the f*ck is this animation... they have been chibi-fied and I actually hate it lol makes me kind of not want to watch.

but I will at least try :vegas:

I think it’s more they’re acknowledging it and the series will be a means of honoring her. The creators love her a lot so I’m skeptical they’d make a series to drag her. Much more likely they’d more boldly make a series about her “failing” but it’s more complicated in truth

God I’m so excited!!! I still remember how hyped we were here back when Korra was ending and Korrasami ended up being canon!
I will say, I’m not a huge fan of the animation style but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
Im so excited where the series takes the amazing world. And Justice for Korra!!!

I am not sure that's what it seems tbh. it's just a few seconds. IMHO this new series will be course correction. Korra will get her name clean, not becuse she's bad but because she's misunderstood,  and connection to past avatars will also be mend somehow.

I gotta be a negative nancy about this I'm sorry. Is it me or does this art style makes the world seem kinda small?? I meannn I've been following the leaks so I was already familiar and anticipating the whole seven havens concept and was cautiously excited and okay with the character designs but this just seems... not so Avatar-like?! even the logo ffs looks like an offline mobile game.

This could very well be this franchise's last leg. It really is somewhat impossible to continue anyways with how much the fandom is fractured, some want a cyberpunk irritation some think the closer the story is to our timeline the less whimsy and Avatar-y it feels some think if you take to much liberty with the established canon people want their status quo back like people dunking on Korra to this day for breaking the reincarnation cycle, some want prequels, some want spinoffs.. etc.

And with how crappy the studio treats this ip anyway there's noway they're throwing money on multiple projects in the first place, I say let it rest for awhile and then return with an actual thought out line of comics same way power rangers did. Till then it's best to leave the ATLA world in Ao3 where it's much more fun.

i actually like the new animation style, yall are haters :bradley:

jkjk but the creators did mention a while back that they were inspired by 90s anime this time around and i actually do get that nostalgic feeling just from the teaser

i also think it'd be cool if every new Avatar story got a new style, i think it helps to see the story from the protagonist's perspective in a way. So i'm fine with 7Havens looking "childish" because we're seeing everything thru this child's eyes. Plus we all know the themes will be everything BUT childish which is what im more excited for.

Avatar's entire existence has been it's last leg the entirety of it's IP. The series was only picked up for 13 episodes instead of 20. It wasn't picked up for season 3 initially. The live action film happened. Then somehow it was deemed popular enough for Korra, but also got pulled off of tv and budget cuts made for season 4. Then the Netflix show was under production for like 10 years and they lost the creators at some point. Then they got a whole studio to create productions with multiple projects. Then the movie got treated the way it did and now this show.

Avatar feels like that coworker at the office that gets burdened with all of the tasks and none of the credit. A lot of expectations with zero support and always expected to come through. That delivers but the goalposts constantly change. It's probably going to be put away for a decade or so just to be revived with a whole bunch of talk to then get short changed again in the end as has become normal for the franchise at this point.
